Logistic Falcors not working anymore?
or am i doing something wrong.
i have a falcor beacon on top of a hopper and its powered (not sure if needed) and 1 logistic falcor attached to an add/remove hopper in the cold cavern and 30 blocks free space above it.
i have set steel cutter heads as items to transport.

Two things have changed. The logistics falcors have a y-axis limited now, so no more using them to deliver cutter heads down to your extractors. They are now also able to filter items, just press e on a falcor and you can set what item you want transported.

beacons have vertical range limit right now.
it's 64.

So if falcor is -250 then you would need beacon on approximately -190 ;D

Also you can still use them underground, they just have that y-axis limit now. The beacon is required to have a 8 meter clearance above it if placed underground!

They have a sharp limit on how far up and down they can go, 64, I think. You need to matter move them down. You can use Falcors to move them around the cold cavern once they're down there however.

so they are useless now?
i dont see any other use for them than transporting cutter heads from the surface to every extractor. transporting them by hand is not an alternative and full transport route with tubes/minecarts/lifts is not really worth it for those few items

I assume you mean cutter heads? No, of course they aren't. Just set up a matter mover network. You already are routing power down the the extractors. Just put a parallel beam of matter moved cutter heads as well. Its not a coincidence that the max range of a laser and the max range of the lowest tier matter mover is the same.

Useless? They're better than ever now that they have filters. Use the right tool for vertical transport and you won't have a problem. Falcors were never meant for hauling things underground. The exploit has been fixed.

I guess he meant the logistic falcors ;d

"cutter heads to transport cutter heads" sounds rediculous don't you think?

btw the manual transport alternative is good :D

Hoard heads with this mod, disable mod, move them manually once a year.

It's not likely to happen because the guys who mess with .dll files mostly like the game the way it is but trying won't hurt.

Mmm, yes. Although to be fair in back to back sentences 'them' was referring first to logistics falcors then to cutter heads. But yes I did read hastily. In any case, matter movers are still the right tool to solve that problem.

Unless you attach the matter movers to lifts or tubes wrong... am i rite?

2 things that came in my mind but not sure if it would work. need to test it.
If a beacons have a max range of 64 wouldnt it be posible to place one beacon on the surface and transport the items to a hopper 64 blocks deeper and then place another beacon on that hopper and transport it another 64 blocks deeper.
so like a falcor chain and every falcor transporting it another 64 blocks.
Restless Gamer Mar 14, 2018 @ 5:23pm
in therory yes, but at that point I think mater movers are cheaper, or a convayer to CC then falcor
Siro Mar 15, 2018 @ 6:20am
The new logistics falcors are amazing. I've been using them to eliminate long conveyor runs at my base and they're even handling turbine fueling. They're still fine for transporting cutter heads (which I feel is still a relatively silly use for them) by setting up a chain. Doing so is relatively easy because everywhere you put an lpt you can put down another beacon/falcor. They don't need power, so they're still relatively cheaper than using matter movers for that purpose.
