Auto excavator: digs ore and machines (contrary to description)
As the title say. First time I'm using it. No mods used, no "MK2", no modules on it or anything. I'm early in my first game. In-game description is very close to the wiki, and says it is unable to dig ore veins.

I was pretty surprised that the shaft had no ore at all in it. I checked by placing it right under some ore and it blasted it easily. Also blasted a torch and some conveyor belt. Good thing this wasn't right under my base lol.

If it does blast everything, that's fine, but the description needs to reflect that (maybe even with a warning). The main problem I see is cutting a long vein in two, which might cause a lot of headaches.

One other thing: the in-game description also says "dug material will fall on the floor". This seems to not really happen. Only a few blocks fell (rocks, some mined ore, a torch and some belts) for a full shaft about 100m high. I watched it dig from below for a while, then I left an empty storage hopper with vacuum on at the bottom, which I checked at the end. It was far from full.

Is this a change to the excavator that didn't make it into the game description, or maybe a bug?

I think it only mines ore on Rapid mode, atleast when I used it last during the P19 development it never mined ores for me on plentiful.

The materials falling to the floor has always been very few if any.

I'm really thankful that it mines ore now lol. It use to not - only this most recent patch has DJ changed that.

No more having to build a lift and nanodisintegrating big chunks of veins to get through.

My last playthrough, I made one looooooooong staircase down to the toxic caverns with only a few shafts up (a la minecraft) - but this time, I'm making great use of lifts and shafts; so it would be a big mess this time around!!

Plentiful. So must only occur on rapid?

Yes, as pointed out earlier by Nedrith it only clears ores on rapid.

Thanks for the answers! As I said, it's not a big problem for me, just that it really COULD have been (blindly digging up from under my base for example).

I assume this means I am on the "rapid" setting (I didn't change any of the settings when creating the world, so this must be the default).

I suppose I will post this as a bug (for the description).

[Edit:] Where can I post bugs?

Not sure it is a "Bug". Rapid changes lot of game settings.
Also MK2 is digging Ores per wiki:
http://fortresscrafte.wikia.com/wiki/Workfloor_Excavator_MK2

MK1 is leaving Ores.

Pretty sure it can't get rid of conveyors tho, under any circumstance.

if (CubeHelper.HasEntity(lCube))
{
if (lCube == eCubeTypes.ArachnidRock || lCube == eCubeTypes.AlienPlant)
{
}
else
{
return true;
}
}

AEs when on Rapid mode do cut through ore, as has been mentioned elsewhere.

Description fixed for P20.
