Setting to not auto-pause the game when alt-tabbing out?

Is there somewhere a hidden setting that stops the game from going to the options menu and hence pausing in single player when alt-tabbing out? I like to switch to my browser when having to wait a bit on things (e.g. workfloor excavators) and often forget to press 'i' to open my inventory to stop auto-pause. It's not a major issue in any way but it's fairly annoying fairly often.

Well that makes sense. The problem I think is more that the options menu gets triggered on alt-tab. Which is unfortunately both desirable and undesirable depending on the situation.

open self crafting ('C') before tabbing.

Press ESC, press multiplayer, press host, press ESC again (so the menu dissapears) and wait a moment.

Now it doesn't autopause ;D

Dj In the "multiplayer" we have few option like:

• max players:
  "16" (input text)
  
• access permission settings:
  "friends only" (switch with arrows)
  
• use build permission "checked" (checkbox)
  
• set default build permission:
  "build permission" (switch with arrows)

and only the "max players" work, other options cannot be changed.
Pressing arrows does nothing and we can't uncheck the checkbox.

Once we start hosting then we get different window where:

• "whitelist" button doesn't even work :D
  
• Yellow buttons like "ban" and "kick" buttons in "players" and "lift ban" button in "blacklist" sometimes have pressing/hovering animation sometimes they don't

no idea if that matters for those buttons but upnp failed and I don't have portforward)

In game hosting is not really supported any more. The game runs much better with a dedicated server even connecting locally to it. If you are actually going to run multiplayer you should set up a server properly. It's trivial to do now with the included server launcher.

ok.
when you just want to disable autopase then ESC - multiplayer is enough :D
also it's better when you use mods because you don't have to install mods there, while you have to install them for dedicated server

Sure for only autopause that makes sense. I was only pointing out why the other options there aren't hooked up for real multiplayer.

That /needs/ to happen as I NEED the player to click into the window to ensure the focus of the game and the mouse capture and windows' concept of focus all match up.

Ugh, yeah, I understand. So the only way to fix this is to make the options menu not pause but since there are two groups of people with completely opposite desires regarding the behaviour the only way to make most people happy is to add an option but that's not desirable because the settings menu is already full.

I already have a save file. How do i alt tab without menu not pausing like this is so frickens annoying. Most games let you alt tab while game is still playing. This is ridiclous. Having to wait for heat gauge to go down, waiting solitary out for 3 min, having not option to tab to browse the net to wait, make the expereince worse and tedious, which shadow a good expereince i so far had. Ruined by i cant alt tab an annoying game mechanic. I like the realism part, but atleast me alt tab, its suppose to be fun. Actually demotivating to play. How do i fix this?

Em, you actually can do this no problem. Instead of opening the menu, open either your inventory, self craft, or any machine really. If you leave the game with an interaction window open, the game continues to work without needing to be active.

I do blame them, but I belive should be ok to put an editable option with notebloc on the local files like "pause on menu = 0/1" I would be verymuch superduper happy if that would be an option, like not in the game but in any sort of file.

I came here from X4:Foundations, and tbh I love the way this game behave around tripulation instead of just aknowledging your ownership of people like x4:fundations, here they seem to be part of it insted of just being another resourse.

But one of the thing I miss is starting to make automatic stuff like trading or mining and not be able to ask my ship to follow my other automatic ships while myselve on a combat corvette just pop up if combat is inminent, while doing that watching anime or another kind of activity. Now I have to bring my celphone when I have 3 screens. Sometimes what I do is open a movie or something. But sometimes I just wanna shat or watch short videos, not being able to jump to change videos or type a message on another screen while game is active is just anoying, totaly understanding the situation, making this an option would make my little kokoro happy c:
