any other games similar to this game?
so is there any other games that have logistics at its core gameplay where you expand by building automation systems that connect to one another and have it become bigger and bigger? only other game i know of is factorio but i feel this game is an upgrade to factorio already.

None that I know of sadly :(
Would welcome hearing if anyone else knows of such a gem. :diggin:

The only game I can think of that's anything like this one is Factorio. Not many games specialize in Production and resource management like this one does.

You might want to check out Big Pharma. It's not as deep as Factorio or FCE, but it might give you a fix for your automation-addiction :) It has a very 'flash-game'-like vibe over it which I really do not like, but the core of the game is automation, production, reaching goals.

I'm pretty sure here aren't any games quite like FCE and Factorio. Usually you can find bits of them in other games whether that be automation, survival, crafting etc.

Sounds like it's the automation side that appeals most to you, so you might try games like Open TTD, Simutrans, or transport fever. In each you build transport networks to various factories which conceptually is a type of automation.

I've seen others suggest (but I haven't played personally) modded Minecraft, Production Line, Autonauts, and Infinifactory.

I really like the idea of tower defense + logistics. Anything else close to that?

Open TTD is awesome and part of what I was going for with my freight system but I don't think it's quite is the same vein as FCE or Factorio with respect to the lack of the survival focus. Great game nonetheless.

First thing that came to mind that I've played is Creeper World 3: Arc Eternal

http://store.steampowered.com/app/280220/Creeper_World_3_Arc_Eternal/

It's a good tower defense game with an enemy similar to FCE's cryoplasm. There is some logistics to it as you need to determine how to efficiently supply your defenses with energy, but I wouldn't say logistics is the focus. 96% positive reviews to boot.

Lol, I actually have that too. It's good. It's basically tower defense though. I like the base building aspect as well, not sure if thats how other people feel.

Factorio. I very much enjoyed factorio, and if you went deeper than just what's needed, factorio get so much deeper.

The trains system, the logic circuits, all points to being able to design a very specialized production system that Fortresscraft cannot even get close to (without mods).

Not to mention the comparatively bug-free environment (enemy bugs in game don't dount, there's plenty of those in both games.)

Even the whole tower defense thing is much better done.

However, Fortresscraft is nice and simple and good for just chilling and watching stuff happen, hence I'm playing this until Factorio comes out of EA.

@Riddly iirc, fces cryoplasma is inspired by the creeper.

Cool, did not know that! I've played a ton of TD games and creeper was one of the most unique enemies. I look forward to facing cryoplam soon. It's time I finally move into the cold caverns. I've got nearly 400 hours into this game and have killed the overminds in two different worlds.

Not exactly in the same vein as FCE, but Dwarf Fortress has a ton of logistics/base-building/whatnot. I don't know if anyone's tried to do it as a tower defense but I wouldn't be surprised.

The downside of course is that the graphics are sub-par and the UI is worse. The former has some patches to help but there's little help for the latter.

Just noticed Oxygen Not Included added automation to their latest update. I haven't played this game, so I can't personally recommend it, except that it looks fun.

Thats not real automation, its just curcuits and stuff to activate things. Nothing to move things around or be useful.

give Nom nom galaxy a go
you can automate to some degree but you have to play a lot until you get there and youll always have to do something yourself
