FortressCraft Evolved

FortressCraft Evolved

Multiplayer does not function.
the ports are forwarded, the Ip's are correct, and the game itself says it's puched through. But no matter who among our group hosts NOBADY can get anything other than "connection timed out" when browsing for the server. And this is both for the dedicated and non dedicated servers. When is this going to get fixed, and estimate?

What version of the game are you running. I just switched back to mainline, hit multiplayer and joined the only public dedicated server that was running. Ran smoothly. Didn't try doing anything other than moving around as I didn't want to mess with a server I had no intention of playing on.

Linux, Windows?

If you have uPnP turned on, don't forward your ports. The whole point of Plug n Play is so you don't have to do that. Just put in the IP:port of the host (LAN IP or WAN IP depending on what you are attempting to connect to and it should work. If that is not working, make sure your router is not blocking uPnP.

Also, to the above poster, "the only currently functioning dedicated server" is not an accurate statement at all. What you meant was the only public one. Plenty of people are running non public servers. I myself am running one right now.

It doesn't function with the port forwarded or not. To the point that it never even tries to find the server IP it just instantly time's out. What's absolutely infuriating is that nothing has changed, yet I had it working just 2 weeks ago. My IP is stable, there hasn't been an update to the game or anything else on my machine that this game would ever touch. But getting it to work earlier was, well, a btch and a half. And now all that work has been rendered meaningless.

NOW, I will say I'm in Japan and my friends back home in Canada. That SHOULDN'T be a factor but just might be. Either way, I'm at a loss.

I actually did mean to type public, thought I did but apparently not. Will fix that now.

Titanium, when yorue on discord, ping me there, or ping me here maybe i can help a bit.
You said a few weeks ago it worked, thats quite anoying for sure. coudl you give me the IP to the Server in a PM? bacause my servers are runnign as intended and it looks like they are reachable from the internet.

Have you tested the port with a port tester? If the port itself is open the only other possible block is a firewall of some sort.

The game uses UDP which is a connectionless protocol so I don't think a port tester would work. The best it could hope for is an ICMP 'port unreachable' message if the port is blocked and the router/firewall sends such messages (which would be a bad design for a firewall).

Titanium Jesus, if you're technically inclined you can use a packet sniffer such as Wireshark or SmartSniff on the server while people are trying to connect to confirm that your router/firewall is working as expected and the packets are getting through.

Really? I guess I manually forwarded the port when I setup mine. I would have assumed that a tester would be forwarded by UPnP just the same.

I'd love to send you a pm, but I can'tseem to find that function here in steam. As for discord, I'd need your username and the discord number. My port right now is forwarded.

That woudl be https://discord.gg/KtFZJMS for the normal FCE discord. for other questions you can also reach ppls there.
As im sure someone pointed out till now, the IP service DJ uses for gettign the IP and going to the server List is discontinued so you would need to tell youre friends youre momentary IP. but as you said, its stable and they cant get on the server even when they type it in manually

If your port is forwarded an online port tester should be able to see the port when you have the game running and hosting. The usual culprit I run into is not having the right exception (port or executable) in windows firewall.

Last time I debugged this I would just restart the game and add new exceptions to it until I found what was needed for the port tester to get a response from the server. After that clients had no issue connecting.

I tested the firewall already, it had no effect.

And @zebra. Thanks for that, I'll be using it this weekend when I've got more than an hour to ♥♥♥♥ with things.
