Port forwarding definitely works however so either you didn't set it up properly or you have some other software blocking the data. Did you add an exception to Windows to allow traffic on the port? Have you tried a port tester after opening the game to multiplayer with port forwarding active?
We've both tried restarting our routers. Twice.
Once we've hit the "host game" button there is no way to disconnect or close the server. We have to restart the game to try again.
I also tried setting up the dedicated server, but it failed due do a BAT error. That didn't clear after restarting my computer, or redownloading the server package.
I am thinik that issue might be easier to fix, but I've put too much time into this for it to be worth it to me now. I am giving up and getting a refund.
I've never had issues with the included dedicated server BAT file for hosting though. I still do all my server mod testing by running that and joining as a client on the 32 bit copy. The version that's available through the Steam tools is definitely a better choice though.
(UPNP fails because if you route it manuel it cant create a rule, and if it created a rule with UPNP it doesn't clear it after quit so the time after it will show it every time because the rule already exist)
if you not get an IP adress then it doesn't work (something with Socket Error instead)
Thanks for all your responses guys.
Also try flipping it so that the other person tries hosting (both people take turns trying to host). I think I wasnt able to get them to see my game but then when they hosted I was able to see their game instead.
Have since got a new Router and Static IP
Stationeers adds itself to upnp list and works flawlessly.
So I am thinking its not the router, isp, upnp.
Fortress Craft...... nope... still nothing...
Disable firewall.
Enable DMZ
Port forward
Restart router over and over
Nothing........
Anyone want to tell me its not Fortress Craft or point me in another direction ?
