Hello,
I found a solution for the game to run on Windows 10. Please make this post sticky.
After installing the game, you need to remove all .avi files from the installation dir as well as "ddraw.dll" and "QuickTime.qts".
Download the following file. It contains the movies and the QT fix: mega.nz/#!tB80ULaS!W0DyyPzWa3lS7in_ko7L3lgckNcY0MMLf-VXXxRIM-I
Replace the .DB files in the installation dir with the ones from my archive.
Place the files inside the archive "QT4.zip" into your C:\Windows\SysWOW64
You will find "QT4.zip" in my uploaded archive.
Conclusion: Videos work and there is no stuttering. It's like back in '99 when the game was released.
thanks for the update, hopefully this works for other people as well!
Thank you for share this with us, this worked on my Win10!
I tried to get the fix from the link, but the file(s) no longer exist. I've never played this game all the way through (game crashed when using a ton of assists). But I'm pretty sure that some of the movies/videos are detriment to the game's story. And I'd really hate to have to uninstall it.
Up side it taught me to save more which is useful for all sorts of games.
Well, with ANY RPG, it's recommended that you save often. Years ago, a friend of mine played one of the Final Fantasy games and had one of those 16 slot Playstation memory cards JUST for that game! And he had it completely full! So, saving often should become a habit. But I keep forgetting about it myself.
The AVi files replaced the .DB video files when you use the unofficial Patch.
This was fixed by steam 1+ years ago so you don't need the fix anymore on the other hand GoGs version is still using that stupid unofficial Patch with the AVI and DDraw files
That still doesn't tell me how to fix the game so I can watch the videos!
This game starts with no problems and videos run for me on windows 10
There should not be a problem but the game is old so ultra wide screen and more then 1 monitor does give some problems
If Videos are not playing that just means you do not have the QuickTime files installed and you can find the QuickTimeInstaller.bat File under "steamapps\common\Septerra Core\qt" just make sure to run it as Admin
