Game resolution is 640x480 but it is being stretched across the screen!
Short explanation: The game is running at 640x480, which is good, but my monitor is stretching it to fill the entire screen and I can't fix it. Setting my windows display settings to 800x600 does not fix it, nor does changing the compatibility settings of the game. My monitor does not appear to have options to change resolution. Does anyone know how to fix this?

==========================================

Long explanation:

I started up the game, and it seems to run fine, except the resolution is being stretched to fill my widescreen. I've found scant little information online on how to fix this, much less current information. I've tried following the various guides I've seen online and none of them have been able to fix the resolution back to a pillarbox. I've tried setting my monitor resolution to 800x600,I've tried going into compatibility settings for the .exe. https://i.imgur.com/XiwHncP.png

I've tried creating a custom AMD profile, but it can't go down to 640x480 resoluton, nor 800x600. https://i.imgur.com/5ONGYIH.png

I've tried using Launch Options. The game crashes on startup when using "-Window" and "-stretchaspect" doesn't change anything.

I've also tried Timeslip's patch. Timeslip's patch caused more problems than I already had: the movie transcoding failed so no intro movies play, the game only took up a small portion of the screen, and my game began lagging considerably (jarring delay when moving the cursor). I uninstalled the patch and defaulted my compatibility settings to start over again.

When I ran the game normally (as Steam installed it, no changes to compatibility mode or mods installed or anything), I took a PrntScreen and pasted it into paint, and noticed it was in 640x480 resolution. I tried moving my mouse up and down, left and right, and it seems that my mouse moves far faster from side to side than it does from top to bottom. To me, it seems like the game is indeed running at 640x480 natively, but for some reason my monitor is displaying it as stretched across the widecreen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It plays fine. Only problem is the stretching.
Found a solution for AMD users (thanks to a user on the GOG forums)[www.gog.com].

  1. Right click your Desktop.
  2. Click "AMD Radeon Settings"
  3. Click "Display"
  4. Click "GPU Scaling" and switch it to "On"
  5. Click "Scaling Mode" and select "Preserve Aspect Ratio"
