Windows fix for videos! (Please make this pinned)
First of all i just wanted to make the current update be pinned on the discussion forums because not everyone will read the patchnotes if they search for help.

Also i found some issue in the tutorial that i have explained below.
Thank you and have fun!

Here is how to fix the videos on update 1.04.

Windows 8, Windows 10
On the first run, game will install DirectX and copy QuickTime.
Try to run game after installation, if You can see different logo before main menu - everything working!

If there are no logo, in qt folder run QuickTimeInstaller.bat with administration privileges.

Windows XP, Windows 7
On the first run, game will install DirectX and QuickTime Player.

1)After installation, open QuickTime Player.

!!!
If Quicktime says "Please install Apple Application Support" go on the official Apple Website and download the current Quicktime Installer version else proceed with step. 2)

Create a text document called QuickTimeInstaller.bat and insert

"QuickTimeInstaller.exe /extract" in the batch file.

Now put both files into the same folder and open the .bat file to extact the installer.

After extraction you will see a file called AppleApplicationSupport.msi
Install that file to get Quicktime running.
!!!

2)In the Quick Time Player:
Edit - Preferences - QuickTime Preferences - Advanced
Uncheck those options:
Enable DirectDraw acceleration
Enable DirectDraw on secondary monitors
Enable Direct3D video acceleration
3)In main game folder, setup septerra.exe to run in Compatibility mode with Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Try to run game now, if You can see different logo before main menu - everything working!

If Steam didn't installed QuickTime Player, in qt folder, install QuickTimePlayer.exe manually and then repeat steps 1-3.

Hm.. Why do You need all those actions, batch file and new installer?
Game already include offline installer of QuickTime.

You should delete quicktime before installation and use versiom provided by Steam.

Still doesn't work on win10 anyway. Someone on gog did a conversion to different file format, why on earth you guys still try to use QuickTime? This is insane. Not to mention it still doesn't work.

edit: Seems it does work after manual installation to qt folder, running bat file with admin rights AND rebooting.
But the point stands. Why QT? If a modder can, you can do better.

If You will give me the link to those files (or to the GOG topic) with conversed videos, I will be happy to include it in game.

A 2013 posts, I am not sure if the links are alive anymore, but here you go, certainly interesting!

And thanks caring, even if nothing comes out of it, you guys already did great work.
Nice to see someone caring about this game after such a long time :)

edit2: And sorry if the topic is not usefull. I saw that people converted the files to .avi, I assume QT is no longer needed in such case, but than again, that assumption could be wrong?
Is the 1.04 patch on steam the same one that Timeslip created?

I have tried to use AVI instead of QT, but unfortunately it doesn't work(

Steam 1.04 is the same as official GOG 1.04 version and it's probably not Timeslip version.

What worked for me was to set Compatibility mode for Win XP sp 3 on the executable in the game folder.
I also uninstalled Quicktime before installing the game, to get the Steam Quicktime version.
