my win XP
You know, there are very few examples of compatibility mode actually solving problems, right? If anything, compatibility administrator may help, but I have no idea whatever it's present in Windows 8 or whatever you can install it in Windows 8.
If you find it somewhere, add:
EmulateSlowCPU
EmulateHEAP
ForceDirectDrawEmulation
SingleProcAffinity
for Gorky17.exe. And obviously, remove the bs generic compatibility from exe file as well.
You can also experiment based on this:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc779583%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
The guys are invisible on all modes except for software render tho. Anyway moral of the story if you have tried all the suggestions and you still cannot get it to work, then your video card just simply does not know what to do with it.
Huh? Hitman Absolution and XP SP3? What?!
Anyway, with the amount of people reporting having problems running the game here and on GOG, it's pretty obvious there should be an additional notification about this game having problems with compatibility.
Then again, you could as well say - that customers should actually be more responsible and stop buying games blindly.
Inside this folder you will found 2 folders with GORK17.exe alternatives.
Try both files. One of them should work for you.
Make sure you have backed up the original file.
S: "alternative2" works for me in Windows 8.1, Geforce GTX 660 (First mode checked).
Can't get this to work as well on Win7 64bit. Have dual 770s in SLI which is probably the 'issue'.
At least it was pretty cheap but looks like an interesting game and would like to try it.
No you shouldn't. In fact - you shouldn't put any amount of trust in any company. No matter if it's Valve with Steam, or CDP with GOG.
Anyway - the version on GOG, seems to be pretty much the same - also causes a lot of problems, its store page doesn't really have much in there as well... thankfully however - for a couple of weeks now, GOG has 30 Day Money Back Guarantee and seeing how Origin already has something similar in place as well, it'd be great if Valve tried to enforce similar policy, at least for old games, like Gorky 17... which just causes waaaaay to many problems on way too many PCs.
