This one could be more like eight hours if you take your time, but people have been speedrunning this one in an hour and a half on their first try so it can be blown through rather quickly if you don't bother doing everything.
A bit short given the 20 dollar price tag, but not all that unreasonable either.
If you think that's too much, you can just wait until it's on sale. Nowadays, games are half price a year after release. It'll probably be 10 bucks at the end of this year.
Risky's Revenge: 7.9 hours
Pirate's Curse: 11.8 hours
1/2 Genie Hero: 8.5 hours
So maybe a little shorter than Pirate's Curse. However, I remeber that I spent quite a lot of time backtracking and hunting for stuff to 100% Pirate's Curse. They give you tools to really speed up the backtracking in 1/2 Genie Hero. So taking that into account, they might be pretty similar.
Check how long i beat the game. Compared to Pirate's Curse, i beat this game with all items in 3 hours less time. I believe it is shorter than Pirate's Curse. I suggest waiting for the DLC to come out so it opens a new mode up, and no im not talking about hero mode.
Is this game really selling for 30 dollars in the EU? That's messed up.
I'll agree that it's very short, however. You have to play all the alternate modes to start getting your money's worth.
It's the competition that's particularly fierce. I bought The Binding of Isaac for a dollar and it lasted me hundreds of hours. Same with Terraria for 2.50. Compared to that, even 20 hours for 15 dollars is quite pitiful.
Those games have procedural level generation, though, which greatly increases their replay value. Games like Shantae or Eroico invest in static but solid level design instead, so they're shorter and have less replay value but the gameplay is generally of much higher quality (while it lasts, anyway).
Pirates Curse took me 16 but only because I was playing the game at 1/2 it's intended speed so it's more like 8 hours.
How much people backtrack or try to find secrets can also have an effect on gameplay length. And that says nothing about replaying for speedruns... or the other campaigns (I hope they are released soon! :D)
Agreed. Other campaigns should increase game length, maybe even add 2 to 4 more hours of play.
