Preferred settings amd gpu (7900xtx)
Hi

Im wondering what settings, at least the most crucial ones are in terms of quality vs performance and where in the ball park i should expect to be on these settings with a amd 7900 xtx and a amd 5800x.
Cant remember actually if i have 32gb ram or 64 on the fly. Im not on the computer right now.

Im using a quest 3. To me visual clarity is important, if preferances are important. There are just so many settings. I don’t expect a complete guide, but some advice on what the most important settings are would be nice as to have a good starting point for further experimenting, and which settings are most low reward/high performance cost, so i can avoid those.

Should i also use fsr 2? Or taa?

And supersampling advice would also be appreciated, as well as frames settings.

Seems there aren't that many people with experience with your hardware. Me included. So maybe just some general experiences and guesses from my side:
Don't worry too much about most settings. You should be fine with mostly High settings. From my experience, there are only two major settings regarding FPS.
Internal rendering resolution: With the Quest 3 and your card I would guess you're fine with Godlike or one below in Virtual Desktop and quality upsampling. TAA at 100% is almost impossible in MSFS2024 even with the moderate resolution of the Quest 3.
Cloud quality: High looks nice but can be VERY heavy on the GPU in certain conditions. So set it to Medium and live with it.
I would assume setting the Quest 3 to 80Hz and targeting 40 with frame smoothing should work nicely.
In addition, there is the concept of disabling fauna completely. I'm not sure yet about that. Maybe give it a try, if you experience strong fluctuations in FPS.
Have a look on the Pimax page - even if you don't have a Pimax headset, there's some advice on general settings for VR and other sim performance.

Thanks!
Following on from those comments above then again I'm not on your hardware but would certainly recommend to drop the Fauna setting to Low or Off and drop the cloud quality.

I'm on an Nvidia card, not AMD, but for all of my hate of DLSS (at least before v4) there was no way in 2024 to recommend TAA in any shape or form for VR as the performance hit is that bad so I'd imagine FSR2 is the way to go for you at this point.

Im running by link cable, as I dont really know if I can prioritize getting into how to set up wifi 6 router etc.

Is it impossible to use virtual reality through cable?
I put together a tutorial for VR https://youtu.be/jUdHsMdm1Q4 and will be doing a new one on the beta patch next

You need to get a proper wired PCVR headset. Quest 3 is ok for some games but this game where details are important and clarity on the dashboard compression really hits hard.
