Fix Index Controller with no mapping.
Fixing Your Index Controller Setup – Quick and Easy Guide

If you want to play with your Index controllers but are having trouble setting them up, don't worry. Here's how to fix your control setup quickly and efficiently, without spending the next five hours going crazy.

Step 1: Access the Button Assignment Menu
The first thing you need to know is that all buttons will be assigned in the same way. On the right side of the controls options, you’ll see a small blue cog icon. When you click on it, it will open the advanced options for button assignments. This step is necessary because this game doesn’t always recognize the input from the Index controllers properly.

All options will appear in this format:
**(Main Section Name) > (Sub Section Name) > (Button Function)**
Then, assign it to **X**.

**Important**: Don’t forget to click the blue cog icon on the right to access these settings.

All Menu Interactions
VR > User Interface > Select >** Assign to **Click Trigger**

In-Game Movement & Camera Options
- **Hint**: You can’t use a single Index controller for both character movement and camera control. Choose one for each:
-Use the **Left Hand** for movement.
Use the **Right Hand** for camera control (outside the plane).

Player Character > Movement > Move Left/Right Axis >** Assign to **Horizontal Thumbstick**
Right below this, you can also assign a crouch button. Even if you don’t assign it, the game will auto-crouch when in tight spaces.

To Open Doors / Inspect Objects:
Player Character > Interaction > Interact >** Assign to **Click Trigger**

---

Camera Settings

- **Player Character > Camera > Rotate X Axis >** Assign to **Horizontal Thumbstick**
**Note**: Before setting this up, make sure you select the second controller (on the left panel).

The camera will follow your HMD (Head-Mounted Display) by default and not your hands, so you don't need to set a Y Axis for the camera.

---
Cockpit Interaction

With these settings, you will be able to interact with all cockpit elements such as electronics, the tablet, yokes, throttle, etc.

Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Primary Action >** Assign to **Click Trigger**
Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Lock >** Assign to **Value Squeeze** (Set Input value to 100 for a full grip)
(Used for the yokes)
Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Unlock >** Assign to **Value Squeeze** (Set Input value to 0 for full release)
(Used for the yokes)

With these options, you will be able to interact with everything in the cockpit.

I hope this guide helps you get your Index controllers set up and working as expected. Please be kind, as this is my first guide ever!

Hey, thanks for this.
But I can't get past the first step "Step 1: Access the Button Assignment Menu".
I Don't know where this is. You say that I should see a small blue cog icon on the right side inside the "controls options". I only see 3 small blue cog icopns on the side of "general controls", "Airplane controls" and "Specific *aircraft here* controls*. Clicking on one of those cog icons brings up a small menu with 6 choices, and only two is clickable. Those are "Duplicate" and "Apply to all aircraft".

So I don't see anything about advanced options for button assignments. So I'm stuck at the first step.
Am I in the wrong menu?
Isn't it the menu you access through the big cog icon, to access all options, and then chosing "controls", and proceed in that menu?
