How to launch with VR? (Quest 3)
2024 isn't showing up in Steam VR or Virtual Desktop. If I try to switch to VR in the game it says no headset detected. In the Steam VR Home there's a generic STEAM icon that wasn't there before and it doesn't do anything. Wondering if my install didn't go right - maybe I need to uninstall and try again?

I'm using Virtual Desktop with quest 3. When you connect to your PC with Virtual Desktop, make sure you have launched SteamVR first, before you try to turn on VR mode in FS2024. Make sure you don't have another PCVR headset attached to the computer as well, SteamVR will prioritize an attached PCVR headset and won't send the video to the quest3 through virtual desktop.

Once you've launched SteamVR with virtual Desktop, you should be able to enter the VR environment and see the steam VR holodeck area, and your head should be tracking etc, so you know VR is working,

Then you can enter VR mode with FS2024 by pressing left Ctrl + Tab together. give it a second and it will start showing the vr game in your quest 3 headset.

After connected to a PC with Oculus Link, does it not work if you try to switch to VR within MSFS?

Nope. The game is displayed in the headset on a flat screen, but won't detect the headset if I click the VR button.

I have the problem, that i started the game (without VR first) then in game shift + Tab (change to VR) then i get an error message. In Steam VR the MSFS24 is not available.

First of all, it's normal for MSFS not to be displayed on the SteamVR side.

This may not be very relevant, but in my case, I always turn off the PC screen on the OculusLink, then look at the the physical monitor and select VR switching in MSFS, but is that still not working?

Sorry, I'm not sure. I recommend you have a look at this page:

Thank you - this got me going. Now to work on getting all the settings dialed in. First impression is pretty good.

Excellent! I've been pretty impressed so far. There are definitely a lot of issues, mostly around conrol, particularly if you're using the motion controllers to directly interact with cockpit. I find many times if you open a menu and return to the cockpit, for some reason you suddenly can't grab the yoke anymore with the motion controller. disabling VR, and re-enabling VR tends to resolve that for me for now.

I also can't seem to figure out how to open the top bar menu inside VR. I would like to be able to open the menu where you have control over things like ATC, cameras, weather/time, etc. But can't find it anywhere while in VR.

also, some menus that I have been able to open are not interactable inside VR with the motion controllers.

So, still some work to be done, but I am having a great time with what is actually working for the moment.
