VR Touch controls not able to interact with cockpit
I've tried on both bigscreen beyond with valve index controllers, as well as quest 3 using touch controllers via virtual desktop. same issue in both, I can see my virtual hands in VR, my virtual hands are able to highlight interactable objects in the cockpit, but I am unable to actually interact with them. can't grab yoke, can't grab throttle, or ignition key or anything. tried using triggers, grip buttons, all buttons. nothing. I've gone through controller bindings and have tried setting things that look correct. but nothing is working. Is there are particular binding I should be looking for in order to interact with he cockpit using VR touch controls?

Are touch controls actually an advertised feature? I assumed it wouldn't have such a thing.

2020 has it. and 2024 has visible touch controller models in the cockpit, and there are controller mappings for them in the control set up, as well as the fact that I can reach out and come in contact with different interacters in the cockpit and they will highlight. So I assume it's supposed to be workign. I just can't actually grab the interactable object and do anything with it (i.e- can't grab the throttle and move it, can't flip any switches, can't grab the yoke and manipulate it).

all of this stuff works in FS2020

quick update. I jumped in again this morning, and they were working. I have no idea what the issue was yesterday. but glad to report that vr touch controls DO work, and I am able to interact with everything in the cockpit. The input is far less "finicky" than 2020 was too, which is a welcome change! Turning dials and things in 2020 was extremely sensitive, in here, it is much easier to input accurate values with the knobs and things.

Sounds great. Looking forward to trying it out in VR. I hope I can do that even if I'm using the gamepass version.

Ah, neat. Never actually realised, I didn't think to try it in 2020.

Yep same here. Valve index with knuckles. Controllers are showing and the aiming line is there, but you can't activate/grab/click anything.

yeah man, sorry, I haven't been able to get it to work at all with index controllers. It does seem to work with quest controllers, however.

i really hope they will fix this.... i thought it may have been a problem on my side but i just completely restored my pc and the same thing is happening

I'm using Index controllers. You have to go to the Controller settings and map all of the input bindings to each of the Index controllers. It's a massive pain.

thats what im saying, I just dont have the patience for that. I basically have a thousand dollar paperweight for the game. I did kinda try to map it but i just could not figure it out so after like 7 hours i just kinda gave up. hopefully they will fix that because I ONLY bought the game to play with my index, I just started out and im not trying to buy a rig or play with my mouse and keyboard while wearing my vr headset...............

that is extremely frustrating...

I also have Valve Index controllers and after trying to bind everything from NOTHING for them, I finally gave up. There doesn't seem to be any way to bind the trackpad or the thumbsticks to do anything at all. I can interact with the cockpit, but I can't grab the yoke for some reason, which makes this game unplayable.

I only, ONLY bought this game for playing it in VR. Especially after they said that they massively improved VR for this game in particular. But it seems like they just threw it to the wayside and did not even bother to bind any buttons - not even for menu interactions! I have never seen a product that is so blatantly unfinished. At least Big Rigs let you use your button inputs to control your truck. This game does not have any bindings and doesn't even let you bind the most important inputs, like a freakin' thumbstick.
Just one random intern jumping in VR to do some basic quality testing would have immediately spotted that you can't even click anything in the menu. I can only assume that they did zero quality assurance, otherwise they would have noticed that the game is literally unplayable. As in that you can't even interact with anything in it. I am not going to play this game on a mouse and keyboard while I am in VR. My screen is blocking my base stations. Also mouse and keyboard sucks! The worst part about this is that I can see that an amazing sim/game lies directly underneath. I would love love love to play this. But I can't. I can't even grab the yoke.

As AgentM83 said, this is extremely frustrating. And I am extremely frustrated, if my rant was no indication for it. I am refunding this. 80€ should have brought me joy, not misery.

Fixing Your Index Controller Setup – Quick and Easy Guide

If you want to play with your Index controllers but are having trouble setting them up, don't worry. Here's how to fix your control setup quickly and efficiently, without spending the next five hours going crazy.

Step 1: Access the Button Assignment Menu
The first thing you need to know is that all buttons will be assigned in the same way. On the right side of the controls options, you’ll see a small blue cog icon. When you click on it, it will open the advanced options for button assignments. This step is necessary because this game doesn’t always recognize the input from the Index controllers properly.

All options will appear in this format:
**(Main Section Name) > (Sub Section Name) > (Button Function)**
Then, assign it to **X**.

**Important**: Don’t forget to click the blue cog icon on the right to access these settings.

All Menu Interactions
VR > User Interface > Select >** Assign to **Click Trigger**

In-Game Movement & Camera Options
- **Hint**: You can’t use a single Index controller for both character movement and camera control. Choose one for each:
-Use the **Left Hand** for movement.
Use the **Right Hand** for camera control (outside the plane).

Player Character > Movement > Move Left/Right Axis >** Assign to **Horizontal Thumbstick**
Right below this, you can also assign a crouch button. Even if you don’t assign it, the game will auto-crouch when in tight spaces.

To Open Doors / Inspect Objects:
Player Character > Interaction > Interact >** Assign to **Click Trigger**

---

Camera Settings

- **Player Character > Camera > Rotate X Axis >** Assign to **Horizontal Thumbstick**
**Note**: Before setting this up, make sure you select the second controller (on the left panel).

The camera will follow your HMD (Head-Mounted Display) by default and not your hands, so you don't need to set a Y Axis for the camera.

---
Cockpit Interaction

With these settings, you will be able to interact with all cockpit elements such as electronics, the tablet, yokes, throttle, etc.

Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Primary Action >** Assign to **Click Trigger**
Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Lock >** Assign to **Value Squeeze** (Set Input value to 100 for a full grip)
(Used for the yokes)
Cockpit > Cockpit Interaction > Unlock >** Assign to **Value Squeeze** (Set Input value to 0 for full release)
(Used for the yokes)

With these options, you will be able to interact with everything in the cockpit.

---

I hope this guide helps you get your Index controllers set up and working as expected. Please be kind, as this is my first guide ever!
