Report a translation problem
Anyway, find the function. On the right of that function is a gear icon. Press that. This will open the Setup screen. On the left is a list of all the buttons your controller supports. Activate the button number on that list for the bottom of the thrust stick and save. That should do it. You don't need to scan for anything.
For me, the scan interrupts if the mouse moves, so that might be the problem. Dennis doesn't know, Dennis doesn't want to know, Dennis doesn't care.
*If you don't know the number, you can look it up online, or use the Windows Controller Configurator, or download freeware SimTrim (see below), and any of these will identify it for you.

I restarted the game and tried some more, then all of a sudden it worked. But I will keep your advice in mind for any new problems like this!
