Keyboard and mouse only - is it possible?
Im half thru the tutorial and manage to lift off and to land with the Cessna. ... but if it would be in irl many people would have been killed. ...
It´s very hard to fly. I can´t say I really enjoy anything about it. It´s almost impossible to fly straight and to succeed hit the landing area.
I use WASD on keyboard. If I just touch A or D once, I almost never be able to put the plane back straight to target again.

My question is, do you think its possible to fly all the aircraft in this sim with a keyboard and a mouse. Is it more easy to fly with a joystick?

If I buy me the best and most expensive simulator flightstick there is, Would it be easy to manage the tutorial then? To fly and land a Cessna thru clear sky a sunny day? I dont mind to put some hours in learning. But atm im confident that with only the keyboard the learning curve is just to steep.

Maybe it´s just this hard to fly a plane. It is a sim and not an arcade game after all.

I don't think it is. Keep in mind that i haven't been airborne more than 60 seconds. Still trying to get my thrustmaster working

KB/M is possible, just like it's possible for you to marry Taylor Swift. She is single, still.

At the very least, get a used XBOX type controller from Goodwill for a few bux. But yes: the more you spend on controls, the better flight sim gets. I have both the Virpil and the Honeycomb HOTAS. Best money ever spent on geek stuff.

Allright!! Good to hear! About both, keyboard and miss Swift. Then I really have something to look forward to. But if I would grade it I would have a bigger chance to learn to fly with a flightstick. ... but not with 06bigsky´s Thrustmater.

Hi Coolrocker, you're going to need to install 2 things.
vJoy and Virtual Controller.
It's a bit difficult to set up to work properly, but it will allow you to smoothly and accurately control the ailerons and elevators with the mouse.

If you have questions on setting that up or run into issues, let me know. It took me a few hours of troubleshooting to get it working properly.

It's weird that MS2024 doesn't naively support this, must hate PC gamers?
FlightGear supports it, GeoFS supports it, MS2000 supported it, but this one doesn't? Crazy.

Thanks Weylin! I will look into this.

I've been using vJoy and Virtual Controller for FS2020, but for some reason couldn't map any of the axis in FS2024. Granted, I only tested this on day one, and not sure if any of the patches fixed anything. Have you had any similar issues?

MS2024 does support mouse control for flight control surfaces, but it's broken or improperly implemented. I did setup the elevator and ailerons axis with an extra mouse button + mouse axis, but it only deflects the flight surface when the mouse is moving; once the mouse stops, the flight control goes to neutral, making it useless. There is a "Set Control on Release" check box, but it doesn't work. As far as I remember, MS2020 had the same problem for a long time.

It also needs a way to toggle on/off so you can look around and click buttons at times
