Crash after logging into Xbox Account (First Startup)
Hi everyone. Really excited to get to play this game and got a new PC with an RTX4070 super and i7 with 32gb RAM to accommodate. I’ve been setting everything up and downloaded all the latest Windows 11 updates GPU drivers etc. and stuck with NVIDIA app to manage graphics. I purchased and downloaded the standard edition, got an Xbox login and launched Microsoft Flight Sim 2024 after installing. It started through the intro screen and then the intro video started with a pop up prompting me to login to an Xbox account. I initially didn’t have one so I created one through the pop up and then it CTD afterwards. I tried restarting multiple times but at that point it didn’t even make it to the video, just crashed. So I uninstalled and reinstalled and looked for other solutions out there including https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/fix-for-some-ctd-issues/676253. I even did a version of this https://www.reddit.com/r/steamsupport/comments/14p1ydm/how_to_fully_remove_all_game_files_from_computer/ to try and reset. What got me back to the intro video was delinking my Xbox account from the flight sim and then one more fresh install. The video showed again but then as soon as I logged in again it crashed. The one other note is that it didn’t even get to the point of having ‘app data’ like some of the videos I found said to clear. At a bit of a loss and am open to ideas on how to make this work. Appreciate any help!

how many cores does your cpu have?

if more than 16 it wont launch, i have a 24 core 3960x threadripper and used msconfig\boot\advancedoptions\number of processors, changed number of proccessors to 32 to make it 16 cores and runs no problem

It was 20. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that just now and put it to 16. Then I tried loading the game again and it did the same crash. Basically got to just after the Asobo logo and before the grid of partners before exiting. Did a delete than reinstall and then got rid of the link in the Xbox account. Got to the load screen the second time around and no pop up for Xbox and was trying to load languages and then a server error popped up (which was new). It then popped a QR code that took me to MS Flight Sim FAQ’s. So currently 16 cores got a bit further but now back to just making it to the Asobo Studio screen then CTD.

Hi. For me it was my clock sync settings. So my date and time were not correct which was listed as an issue on another site. The windows time server wasn’t synced so I switched to the nist one and it worked. Got into a free flight!
