Scenery - MSFS Map Enhancement or default?
Okay, so I've always used the MSFS Map Enhancement with MSFS 2020 and I love using it. With MSFS 2024, I've learned that "Rolling Cache" has to be enabled (Internet is 60 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up). Yeah, I've deleted the cache file before using this addon but I've find that the scenery looks "weird". It has the dark tiles (Bing?) and light tiles (Google?).

Also, for the live weather, some areas in the real world have snow but it's not showing up in the game with live weather enabled when I'm using the addon.

What is everyone here using?

For snow on the ground, you'll probably want to buy Active Sky. I bought it the other day and have seen snow on the ground in Romania using live weather.

I haven't used MSFS Map Enhancement, so can't comment on that.
I was using it in FS20 but would not recommend it for FS24.
The only reason to use it in FS20 was due to higher resolution tiles. However in FS24 the tiles are already in higher resolution, about same as with high lod option of the map enhancement app. But the default tiles in fs24 are much better matching (not so much problems with different colors) and there are also season filters so that you get winter tiles in winter and summer in sommer etc..

The map enhancement uses the latest Bing maps, not the one MSFS 2024 uses. It is far superior as well as using the Google maps.

Does it give you stutters/hiccups ? I tried this with 2020 and it was not a great experience because of this, every x seconds I got a pause back then, which was very annoying ...

I find it runs very smoothly in the 2024 version.

I used to have payed premium subscription using it in msfs 2020 for two years, but I still would not recommend it anymore. The default textures are much better because they are matching while tiles from bing or google are season mixed. Sometimes you have tiles that are winter, sometimes summer with sharp color differences. Then you have those immersion killing lines where the terrain is dark on one side and bright on the other. Particularly with google it is a terrible patch work. But also with bing you have not many regions where you don't see these ugly lines. Often there are also clouds and sun reflections in the water near coast lines.

And yes, it does cost 10-15% performance, more vram usage and can cause stutters.

I personally find the overall colouring better while using it.

I use the MSFS Map Enhancement since the default satellite images of MSFS2024 are disgusting, horrible, of low quality. very very outdated.

Without that application I do not plan to use the simulator, since in my region South America it is useless because it is so outdated.

The issue is now that this damn game is full of bugs, problems, CTD, it stuck at 68%. It's tremendous crap from Microsoft Asobo. I wanted a refund but they didn't give it to me because of the hours and hours that my PC stayed stuck during the initial load and never works
