How come there is no trim?
Some airplanes don't have trim. Does it make sense for a fixed wing to not have trim?

Because the developers didn't finish the game before release unfortunately

Whether it makes sense or not, some planes did not have trim. Many planes lacked trim in WWI. And adjustable trim was later yet.

Same here, the only plane I've used so far is the C172. You can move the trim, but it's just moves back to where it was. So when flying you have to push in on the yoke the whole flight or it just keeps climbing.

Th Autopilot works sometimes if you get the red triangle boxes in the cockpit glass lined up. But if you just touch it, it goes off. Now that I Company for short runs, I don't need the AP. But it would be nice to have the trim working.

It'll work by putting it on an axis instead of elevator up and elevator down buttons. It won't hold though, you have to keep adjusting to fly level.

I'm back trying to play. I want to make a bunch of money hoping they'll fix just the little things. Like the plane flying level without using AP.

Seems like you have some assist turned on.

What kind of assist would it be? When I set up my yoke, I deleted all the pre-sets and started from scratch. Watched youtube videos to make sure I had the correct buttons. I have all the past flight games, so I'm not new to MSFS.

Again. what assist would I have on to make the elevator trim not work correct?

thanks for any help

Assistance is not a controller bound stuff, but a simulation one.

thanks, yow I know. I wanted whoever to know that I don't have a conflict as a lot people did at the beginning. Causing strange things to happen.

So my question is, if it's an assist, what assist would it be. I can't think of one. You can use the elevators to go up or down, But then it resets to slightly up and you have to push in on the yoke.

I know that when you up the gas you have to re- adjust the trim. I've flown a lot over the years using only the trim to follow a flight path instead of AP.

So the trim works, it just doesn't hold!

thanks

trim works for me for all planes but the pc-6 with steam gauges. This plane has trim too, but its just not working. C172 definetely works.

Possibly you have auto-trim assistance option activated.

Trim definitely works in the C172. As per the previous post, auto-trim would be a good guess as to why it isn't working.

ok, thanks a bunch. I don't even know what auto trim assistance does, but I'll look for it in about an hour. I hope that's it as it looks like I'm going to be in the C172 for a while.

I flew the C208b in free flight the other day and everything worked as far as Autopilot unlike the C172. So I'm trying to get to the C208B. I went back to 2020 the other day. It was nice to just set the AP and the plane do everything it's supposed to do.

I don't know about the ILS yet, haven't tried it in 2024 yet.

thanks for replies

I found Assisted Yoke and AI auto trim and turned them off I'm going to go try now.

Thanks Pat.

That doesn't make sense as they both use the GFC 700.

It was before the 1st patch when I flew it. So something might have changed.

Nevermind. Deleted my post because you mentioned career mode with the 172 which I've heard weird things that go on that don't in free flight. There is also the steam gauge 172 which uses the KAP 140. I'm not sure how it's modeled in 2024 but in 2020 there was a mod to fix it up.

It's working in Free Flight it seems. I turned off AI Auto Trim and Assisted Yoke I had seen the AI Auto Trim, I thought it was for the guy sitting next to me back when we got the game, ha.

I'll go try a Mission in a bit. Got to do something else for about an hour.

I'll be bock!

thanks a bunch guys. (if it works in Career) I'll be good to go. I don't need no stink'n auto pilot.
