Glitch, Bug or Inexperiance?
ATC has hit me numerous times with the "ATC Speed Infringement". I'm already familiar with the ground taxi speed limit, but these are in the air. I've been at 85 kts and 100kts while flying a Air Tractor for firefighting missions. Oh, I've also haven't even gotten close to exceeding aircraft capabilities.

So, is this a bug or am I just missing something and this can all be avoided if I only knew the rules I am breaking.

well in reality there can be speed limits in IFR flights in certain cases. The controller (ATC) is supposed to control the traffic in his area and then he may give you a speed maximum. Or it is explicitly dictated by certain procedures or local rules. For example if you fly an approach in the alps, certain waypoints and sectors may have minimum height and / or maximum speed requirements. In Europe for example there is general speed limit < FL100 max 250 kt.
In a real aerial firefighting scenario, there is an Air Boss who runs where all the aircraft are in the air at any one time, and that Boss is very specific about where you should be. You can imagine that in those conditions there could be a high incidence of close passes between aircraft.

However, MSFS is just pretend, so the ATC will make up a lot of things. Playing the game of "Glitch, Bug, or Inexperience" (I love this!), I'd go with some from each category in this case.

I guess you should try to maintain a lower airspeed without going anywhere near the engine redline. I don't know anything about the Air Tractor, but I can imagine it's easy to over-rev and overspeed when your diving on a fire while filled with retardant. So, give yourself a wider-than-normal margin of error.

If I was firefighting, I'd be watching the gauges like a hawk. Flying into fires, there's tons of hot turbulence. It would be easy to overstress something. On the other hand, going in underpowered would get you flipped over and into the trees in a hurry. That's why the training for firefighting is so rigorous.

I am a retired ATC (Center), so I'm very aware of the ATC errors in the game. That being said, no aircraft who has been given a speed will be slapped with an infraction as soon as the aircraft hits the assigned altitude.
