I my case yes, much better with my modest setup: i7, 32GB Ram, RTX2060 and low end internet connection VDSL2 70M.
Yes I do have a better experience at similar graphical settings compared to 2020, however for me that experience does fluctuate depending on the time of the day, probably because the cloud infrastructure is getting heavier and so at times...
However, on the few occasions when it will work I would say the frame rate is better on MSFS 2024.
Downside is you will get more unresolved photogrammetry, more blurry textures, more control delays, lack of engine sounds, missing plane graphics, and occasional erratic flight which defies the laws of physics. These issues are due to failures of streaming.
No, since most assets are being stremed it is either due to your internet connection or the local Azure server uplinks, a simple as that probably.
But it seems now that the holy trinity of performance using the CPU, GPU and RAM has been joined by 'Quality of Bandwidth'.
So now, it becomes the 'Quaternity' (a real word) in which such games need and should be examined, tested and scored by everyone using these four critical issues, before offering what is suppose to be a representative review or assessment to guide prospective customers.
Sadly, I suspect many of even the well respected reviewers will be slow to adapt to this significant change and will just add to the frustration of customers.
How do you know the data for you is streamed from there?
Is physical proximity to one of the many physical locations of one of the data centers, the only factor in your connection in a cloud service lie Azure?
And on a side note, I wonder if all this data is actually mirrored to all of the Azure regions and geographies throughout the world.
What someone else experiences isn't necessarily what you're going to experience. Me personally, the frame rate is slightly better with much the same settings as 2020... but it's smoother and I don't have nearly as many frame drops or moments of screen tearing.
mid to low high end PC and broadband.
I'll not go back to 2020.
I get during flight into the menu and then back to flight and als fps is messed up and sim unflyable.
It's always been like this. But you're right, I had to be sure. So I opened up the modem and looked inside, and sure enough all the data packets were hand-signed by Bill Gates himself.
Microsoft maintains servers worldwide, but they definitely have a big, fast, sleek one in Redmond that they maintain with chamois cloths and baby oil. Sometimes incantations and the sacrifice of a live chicken (which eventually goes into the soup. Microsoft has fabulous food craft services on-site!).
Its not the FPS that are the issue its the bugs, non-working button controls, non working rudders etc that are most annoying. Also the ATC seems really dumb now - landing on runways with planes taking off in the opposite direction, lack of information and directions etc.
