Honest review about MFS2024
Asobo and Microsoft have shown utter disrespect to the flight simulator community with this latest release. The lack of fit & finish is obvious in the amount of low quality A.I. likely used to develop most of this game. I say game and not "sim" for a reason. Needing 100Gb of rolling cache to render scenery half as good as War Thunder while using the same 10 AI generated passenger phrases is crazy work. The control mapping was clearly a task completed by the same weak a.i.. Does it look and sound decent? Sure. But it's not an upgrade by any means. It looks like zero input was really taken into account by the developers from the community and at the last minute they used some janky A.I. to attempt a polishing of the product. It's failed. Game needs reworking and it needs it before next quarter along with an explanation as to why so little thought went into something that such a large community of customers has supported since the 1980s wire frame sims. I love MSFS I really do. But this is the gamer version of streaming the Tyson Paul fight on Netflix.

for me, it's a quantum leap forward.

buggy? sure but I'm far happier with 2024 already than I ever was with 2020

Apart from graphics and lighting, why?

Shoot, I'm happy with FSX for my free flight itch with the richness of the modding community it's still a viable and wonderful sim. When I'm ready for a newer sim ill be looking forward to Xplane 12+.

Once I saw 2024 was online streaming only, my hopefulness for a better sim dissolved. But so many people got caught up in one of the most hyped up game I have ever seen in recent memory. Lots of you tube videos hyping it up.

I agree on the YouTubers missing out on critical info, but I suspect that XGS curated their limited and controlled-environment time on the sim to only show how wonderful it was.

Maybe they just got set up by XGS to give us a false impression.

I am never going to accept that terrain relies on an online connection. When your local internet is down or any other problem this sim will be dead in the water. The excuse that people do not have room is also BS. 1TB hard drives are dirt cheap these days. This is a dumpster fire of a sim even after they fix the install issues. This sim is essentially the same sim except for the small gimmick of getting in an out of the aircraft, the now harddrive-less terrain, and some lame career mode. Add to this forcing everyone to rebuy 100's or thousands of dollars in content over again...no thanks.

Where did you get the 're-buying everything again' from?

If you are truly flying with IFR routing with arrival and approaches and a Garmin pfd that has all the information associated with sids, stars and approaches it is a total disappointment. Sofar msfs 2020 is far superior to 2024 and of course flying vr, never going back to the desktop flying!

why apart from? they're two major parts.

still, I'll also add the new aircraft, cloth sim, first person, career basically look at any marketing material for a list.

no one is saying it's perfect/bug free but anyone can see it's going to be astounding fairly soon.

I'll not be going back to 2020.
