Career Mode: What does "Crew" do?
FINALLY managed to make my own company in career mode, bought a 172 Skyhawk, and I notice that under the aircraft when looking at my fleet, at the bottom it says "Crew" and I can toggle it on, or off. What does this mean or do? I haven't seen any difference no matter what option. Does that mean I can hire employees to make money for me in the background? If so how do I do that? I don't see it anywhere and what short tutorial I was given never explained it to me.

I actually have no idea but if I was to guess when you get a bigger plane like an airbus, you may need to crew it with Co pilot and cabin crew.

When you buy a second plane then you can set one to Crew On and they will fly missions using that plane. You don't actually see it happen. I got a notification when logging back on after a break.

Where do I find that or how long does it take? I put crew on for both of my planes (Flightseeing and skydiving), and logged off for the night. Came back on, and there was no change at all in any of my company finances.

It seems to be once every 24 hours. mine seems to happen in the early evening. What determined that time? I am not exactly sure. 24 hours after I got my second plane? 24 hours after I set a planes crew option to "on"?

I think it is every 24 hours. You'll increase passive income by 1 job for every additional plane you have in your fleet every 24 hours, so it's not a get rich quick scheme. It'll take a week or more for the planes to pay for themselves and start making you a profit.

I hope they work on this and actually supply some official information, b/c right now it's a feature they've made zero mention of. Like does it matter where you have your plan stationed? How many jobs surround it? You also have to upkeep the planes you aren't using but are being used by "crew", so if you log out for weeks, will they just fly the planes into a grounded state? Shouldn't your reputation affect company business? crew training/progression? It really seems to be barebones, if it's working correctly at all at this point. I don't know. I got 1 notification that crew flew 1 mission 2 days ago, but have yet to get another notification, and I wasn't watching my money closely enough to know if I've generated any more passive income since then.

When you set "Crew on" on one or more planes you own, your 'employees' will automatically fly missions with that plane during the time you're flying other missions in career mode, either as freelancer or as employee. It does NOT generate passive income while you're offline, it only 'works' when you're flying a different mission yourself in career mode (on a different plane obviously). Free flight, world photographer, etc don't count.

Mind that your 'employees' might not be so careful with the plane. Expect some extra maintenance fees. All in all, it should net a nice positive income though.
(There's no managing employees, making them better or anything. Just set "Crew on" and forget it.)

In addition, some believe the plane your flying needs to have crew set to off in order to get credit for the time.

Also, it pays out at 12 UTC time, 7PM EST and you need to be off the sim for it to tally your money. If you are on at the time it will not work. It seems to be a bug, but I would exit the sim before 12 UTC and log back in at 12:05 UTC.

I have 2 cessna 172 for cargo missions. One with crew off (the one I use) and one with crew on. The question is: does the aircraft with activated crew choose the missions itself and fly them? It's just that I have the feeling that no mission is flying. Is there anything else to do? Thanks a lot.

I've been playing with the 2 planes I own with crew on. I'm flying Cargo, the other is 1st Flight. I've been getting paid everyday for my 1st Flight plane.

Also I seen a streamer who had the high insurance. They had left Crew On on both of the planes. And when he came back after a few days. The Insurance had wiped all his money out. So I turn Crew Off when I'm not flying on both planes. (I probably don't need Crew On in my plane I'm flying.)

Now this happened before the last patch.

This is not working at all for me, I have a Cessna and a Vision, I set both to Crew ON, I moved the Cessna to an airport with a mission, I've been flying lots of other missions in my Vision, it's been a week and they haven't done anything.

They have to be near a mission in order to generate passive income. Look at where some missions are and move the plane there and it should work.

The plane you are flying needs to be set OFF! or you need to fly as an employee if you only have 1 airplane for your crew. If you fly it while crew is set ON, it won't work.
It works fine for me now.

This is a big mess with lots of issues raised on the FS forums. It worked for me, then stopped and now I am being charged insurance premiums without any flights happening and no income being charged. This will take some time to resolve.

I got paid Passive money again today. This is 3 or 4 days in a row. With Crew on or crew off with the plane I'm flying. I'm flying now with it off.

Tip I found: If you wash your AI's plane at the beginning of your flight. After your flight, check to see if the AI's plane is dirty and needs washing. If so, they flew the plane.
