2016 Bing Maps?
Finally got into the game. A quick flight from KCLW to KSPG, and there is roadwork on the Highway that was finished in 2017/2018.

Is this just M$F$2020 (2016 Bing Maps) repackaged?

In the pre order trailer, specifically the scene with downtown los angeles, you can see new skyscrapers(Intercontinental Tower, oceanwide plaza towers etc,) but these are not live in the current build. Same with the media preview video they put out, one screenshot shows an updated NYC skyline but the sim has the same 2014 skyline.

The map update (or lack thereof) was prob the only downer for me of this. However, if they're going to be behind on anything, that was the right choice. Swapping in a new map I have to believe would be a low lift for dev. Also if I'm being honest with myself, I don't spend most of my time close to the ground in this game anyway. The other textures (and really every other improvement) are amazing - this game is going to be a true great imo. Fingers crossed!

I don't understand why the Devs can't simply respond to this subject.

Simple question. Is an almost 8 year old scan being used?

What's the point of this game then? I think I'll just wait for 2020 on cyber monday.

So I went to look at my condo and guess what I found - a 2-storey building. It's a 36-storey building that was built in 2006. So I assume that the maps are as old as 2005 or whatever year my condo had only 2 stories built.
Cant say I expected better from MS.

I think Microsoft can golly well afford to update the world cities every once in a while.

6cm is the standard here, my fellow CAP member....
Get a load of this guy

Just checked to see how far back the world map goes, Blue Ash Airport (Ohio) permanently closed at noon on August 29, 2012. A few months after, the hangers were removed, and a park opened up.

Somehow over a decade later... the airport exists in-game... As if nothing ever happened. This is recockulious. Where are they getting the airport information?!

What do people expect for $70+ in 2024?

Not like terrain is important in a flight sim.

MS could start a subscription for people to access newer data and make some money out of it. :)

What a load of malarkey!
