Download instead of streaming
Is there anyway that I can download the content instead of streaming it from server?

Maybe, if you have a Hardrive that can store the Geometric information for the ENTIRE PLANET. Also, terrabytes worth of texture data. I really don't get why this question gets asked. It should be common sense.

Why does everyone default to this...... in 2020 you could download sections of the planet as large or as small as you wanted to store.... I was able to download the state that I live in without downloading the whole world.....

They're fanbois and have an inherent need to shill for the game. Its the only reason.

When marketplace goes live probably
DmAnd Nov 20, 2024 @ 3:04pm
Just set a big rolling cache and the map will download as you fly it.

Pretty sure that is how it works no?
I think till they fix the market nothing can be downloaded and installed.
Which is kinda ironic since part of the of the reason the market is getting delayed is because everyone is streaming.

Funny thing about that: If you set your Cache to like 500 GB the game now takes hours to claim 500GB on your drive. Yes, it instantly tries to block the space before something even needs it.

So no, setting your cache to a high number is stupid in another way

i think downloading with the servers crippled will just make these problems worse.

Just fly in the same area. It only downloads new information, if you go outside where it has loaded. I assume you have broadband restrictions, you can also adjust the GBs it will download in the settings.

It only took me about 2 minutes to cache 100GB

I believe they don't have the speed, nor the capacity with their ISP! ...

You must be using HDD instead of SSD if its taking too much time.

I have 200GB in M.2 SSD allocated to rolling cache in MSFS 2020. I visit places in advance before I fly there in VR to load the photogrammetry data to avoid any slutters due to data transfer issues.

So far what I have seen is not that much better then MSFS2020 considering the streaming data workload is 3 times more.

It is quite feasible to have a compromise instead of your silly idea.
