If I wanted to upgrade

If I purchase the standard version and want to upgrade to deluxe, premium or aviator. Would I have to pay full price after paying full price for the standard version? Or would I only have to pay the difference?

If it follows the same practice as MFS2020, you would essentially be buying the full game, twice. There was never an option, at least on Steam, to upgrade your "Edition" for the difference in price between what you own and what you want to buy. It may have been possible from within MFS2020, as the game is also tied to your Microsoft account. But I don't know what conflicts would arise between Steam thinking you have Edition X and Microsoft thinking you have Edition Y.

If you're having difficulty choosing which edition to buy, buy the one that has the content you want. Don't expect there to be an "upgrade" option. And don't expect it to even work properly if there is one.

The only aircraft that I am interested in flying are the G/A aircraft and US Navy fighters, including the F-14. I am not looking to fly career mode, I am just here to be able to fly since I am unable to get my Private Pilot.

Do you own MFS2020? If so, it seems to be identical to MFS2024. MFS2024 only seems to have career modes and slightly better lighting?

And you can buy USN aircraft from 3rd party sellers that are a true joy to fly, without having to purchase the most expensive version of the game. So for example, you'd just need the most basic version of the game, then from within the game or on a 3rd party website, buy and download an F-14, make sure it's in your community packages folder, and you're good to go.

It just depends on what you want vs what's offered in the different editions of the game.

I don't know if 3rd party installations are enabled yet in MFS2024, but they definitely are in MFS2020.

If MSFS 2024 follows the same pattern, expect to pay $90 to upgrade from Standard to Deluxe, probably $110 to upgrade from Standard to Premium, and I'll guess $150 to upgrade from Standard to Aviator. The upgrade pricing in MSFS 2020 was bizarre and somewhat cruel.

Yes, I have 2020 and I try to fly the aircraft, but when using my joystick after I calibrate, program (in the flight sim and the joystick profile), nothing is right with my joystick compared to what I programmed. So I just get pissed and not play it. I go straight to my RealFlight Evolution, 9S or trainer edition to get my flying fix. I am a Remote Control aircraft pilot (fixed wing aircraft and recreational).

Was there ever a problem on Steam though? If you bought Standard on Steam but upgraded from within the game? So Steam thinks you have the Standard but Microsoft shows you have the Premium edition?

Yes, with my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. It has never worked the way that I program it in game and in the joystick profile itself. I did purchase the top version of 2020.
