Stuck at Customise Identity

It’s just sitting there with blue screen and a little spinning circle in the bottom corner for eternity.

Every restart has to go through that lengthy startup loading screen as well, this is the 3rd time in 2 hours I’ve restarted and cannot get past customise identity.

Is there actually a point waiting at the 'customise identity' screen if it doesn't load immediately? If it doesn't happen straight away, does it mean it has failed?

No, if it doesn’t load in the first 5 mins, try again. Once you’ve got past that point you won’t get it again… but then you’ll have another freeze or crash in something else.

Same with me right now, last night I couldn't get passed 97% now I am stuck at customise identity for 15 minutes

Community if you are having this issue like I did for the last 2 days turning on Narrator Mode will get you finally in the game it worked for me first try.

I have just fixed it for myself,
for the record I'm using VPN connected to USA,

before starting the game, locate the folder C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\StreamedPackages

Inside this folder delete these x13 folders which are called
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-avatar
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-civilian
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-common
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-instructor
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-journalist
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-medic
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-pilot
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-security
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-skydiver
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-steward
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-swimmer
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-vip
asobo-proceduralgeneration-character-worker

Then boot up the game again and go into your profile and select customise avatar, this removes my Red error man and allows me to select faces,body etc without crashing to desktop, also allows me to spawn and walk around without camera being stuck into middle of aircraft.

You can do the Customize Identity when you setup the controls. Go to customize controls and you will see the normal XBox accout in the top right. Click on your name then there should be a Customize Identity button on the bottom left. Click that and when you are finished you should be in the sim. It worked for me.

Thank you, I found them there. It made no difference, clicking anything in character customisation crashes to desktop still.

I did try deleting my profile and trying a different starter airport… after doing that 3 times I can move my character.

But now “press shift +C” does nothing. Even aiming for the plane handle and clicking open does nothing.

The only step I haven’t done is use a vpn and “be” in a different country.

Just have to keep restarting if it's loading a long time, i've had two days of this and I know how frustrating it is.

I think once you're passed that point it becomes easier, now I have no problems logging in or playing the game. The servers are still messed up and some still can't get in.

I hope you are able to play it soon though, the graphics is great for me, certainly an improvement from the last one.

How did you delete your profile? I can fly but have a red man sticking out of the top of the aircraft. Any attempt to change appearance results in a crash.

Dude. I’ve also had two days of this, I’ve been at this since release hour and I’ve tripped over every. Single. Hurdle.

97%, stuck on char create, Ctd on edit char (still suffering from that one), red guy, stuck in plane, stuck in floor, cannot do first flight in career due to shift C not working… (that’s where I am now).

Damn, I'm sorry mate, I feel your pain. I was stuck on 97 for 1 day then stuck on custom for another day then today I was able to play. It seems to be rolling out to people over time, you are probably unlucky not to get in right now.

I don't know what settings you will be using but on ultra wow the scenery is amazing so don't give up with it, you will get in eventually. I hope you get in today though, they seem to be working on it and improving over time.
