Can game be played offline wo game pass?
I would buy the game itself to enjoy it. But if I have to buy game pass just to play it offline by myself then that would be a deal breaker for me.

The game is on steam.
You do not need gamepass to play games that are on steam.

I'm not sure the game can be played offline at all with the streaming assets technology, but if it can be - it's not requiring you to buy a subscription service to play a game you already bought on steam.

Thanks! I have bought other games in the past on steam, and then had to request refund because as soon as i tried to play the game because there were popups requiring me to at least have a separate account with that vendor.

And the trailer for this game highlights xbox gamepass as soon as it loads... So I would rather not buy just to discover that I need a refund. :)

If there's any account integration, it'll be a microsoft/skype account like in other first party MS games (like Forza/Horizon). Most people already have one. MSFS did require a MS account. I'm not sure if you can use a local one, but there are benefits to having a microsoft account crosslinked to your steam account and it doesn't require a paid subscription.

I totally understand if *ANY* new accounts are a dealbreaker. I don't think you need to install a dedicated LAUNCHER for MSFS and you certainly don't need gamepass to play a steam title, but you most definitely need a microsoft account to at least access online features and most windows users have one.

if you have game pass its free day one on the xbox launcher, as far as offline play goes, you will be able to play offline but it will look really degraded on the graphics since most of the eye candy is coming from the cloud to save space on your computer.

thank you both. i'll think about it. i do have a microsoft account for stuff like office and windows itself. but will have to think about whether to use that with steam.

1. Due to the new architecture of MSFS 2024, it is not possible to play offline! Most of the data is in the cloud and is streamed, so a permanent internet connection is required! If you prefer to play offline, MSFS 2020 is a better option!

2. Yes, the simulator requires a Microsoft account with which you have to log in. However, the Game Pass is NOT necessary if you buy the simulator.

That's really helpful. Thank you!
