You do not need gamepass to play games that are on steam.
I'm not sure the game can be played offline at all with the streaming assets technology, but if it can be - it's not requiring you to buy a subscription service to play a game you already bought on steam.
And the trailer for this game highlights xbox gamepass as soon as it loads... So I would rather not buy just to discover that I need a refund. :)
If there's any account integration, it'll be a microsoft/skype account like in other first party MS games (like Forza/Horizon). Most people already have one. MSFS did require a MS account. I'm not sure if you can use a local one, but there are benefits to having a microsoft account crosslinked to your steam account and it doesn't require a paid subscription.
I totally understand if *ANY* new accounts are a dealbreaker. I don't think you need to install a dedicated LAUNCHER for MSFS and you certainly don't need gamepass to play a steam title, but you most definitely need a microsoft account to at least access online features and most windows users have one.
2. Yes, the simulator requires a Microsoft account with which you have to log in. However, the Game Pass is NOT necessary if you buy the simulator.
Thanks, i guess i'll stick with msfs2020
