Couple of quick things we need to know to help...
- are you a guest ie free to play
- are you hunting on Logger's Point
- have you looked at the tutorials
Other stuff:
if you are starting as f2p you can only shoot Mule Deer at the beginning hence you should be on Logger's Point
Best way to hunt is to walk or crouch, listen for deer calls then stay still and use your free deer bleat to draw a deer to you.
Lets us know how it's going
Once you get the hang of using the huntmaster gadget, you can identify and track deer to kill them away from the towers.
If you see Elk you are not on Logger's Point!!
Press Singleplayer, then on the left hand side clickon the Logger's Point icon (second one down) then click on either of the 2 huntng lodges (Border Lodge or Field Lodge) which should turn from black to red. Choose 05:00 as your start time.
And then rock!
If you still fail, friend/message me and we can try multiplayer together to help you out.
funny yesterday i tracked mule deer him/her (crouching runing walking)all the way from first tower post on north east of logger point to the camp in the middle and never find him/her
may be the deer moved faster than you; it works better to track and call when you hear the deer first, then you know they are closer.
Do some more Mule missions and buy a whitetail license is the other answer - good hunting.
