Looking for a good mallard hunting spot
I got all the stuff needed, some decoys, a waterfowl and callers, i am wandering in Rougarou bayou since a few days to find a good spot to install it.

I already got a goose hunting field pretty efficient, though i find easier to find one on Hirschfelden.

I could find patches of open skies, but there are often trees crossing line of sights, or simply issues to reach islands around (i hate this place because you're often stuck for only a few meters when trying to cross rivers....). I don't mind if there are some deep waters around because i got a retriever which can fetch mallards.

Where have you installed your mallard hunting spots on Rougarou map? Also I got a tent i can let, so no worried about the distance from lodges.

Thank you, also if you got a map of paths through rivers, i am just going crazy running in circles, i have travelled 500m in 2 hours, this map sucks a lot because of this water you can or can't cross, and you end up stuck in a river realizing you have to walk back about 30mins to try another path.....

I like Rougarou and played it a lot. Never had that much problems with the water. You can wade all water that is shown in brown colour on the map. But often you have to walk standing and there are some deep spots here and there. Only the water in blue on the map is not passable.

I am stupid lol......

I didn't realize that's because i was crouching that i could not cross brown waters...

Thank you very much, you saved my afternoon :)

Any other spots for mallard hunting? I was looking for a place further from lodges or more centered on the map, though if there is only 1 efficient spot, i will take it.

I think the mallard swarms always fly over the player more or less (or the one who is the host player in multiplayer games). So any spot that has enough open water for the ducks to land and free view to see the swarms already from far away is good. Of course the chance to break them from the swarm depends also on your camouflage. But the swamp camo is only for the swamp areas, that makes the northern and most eastern areas not optimal. You should best try the delta in the south to find more good spots.

Ok, from what i saw on Hirschfelden, i was more thinking that flocks fly a straight path randomly from a direction to another, i tried several spots, and i think i had less flocks when on a corner of map, though i may be wrong.

Actually, i am travelling next to the south end of the map trying to find a good spot, i got swamp waterfowl and clothing, so i think i should find one there. Thank you for your informations :)

The flocks spawn randomly from all around the borders of the map, then travels in a straight line towards a spot on one of the others sides of the map.

Where you are on the map does not affect the positions of the ducks at all.

Try exploring a bit and try setting up at different locations. Sooner or later you will find a place which suits you.

Try looking for large water areas with shallow water and/or tine patches of dry land to set up a blind. There are several very open areas for this. (Also in the southern part of the map)

I found a not so bad spot at the south west end, the main river is splitting in 2 rivers, with an island separating them, i could place the fowl at the northern spot of the island, and i got almost 360° of line of sight to shot.

I find this place is nice, because no trees in the river, no trees at the north of the small island, i just got a bit of trees on 30° on south-west direction, though ducks can't land there.

I also found very hard to shot mallards with .22 LR, they seem to be faster, and smaller than geese. However, 12ga seem to be the best to get 2 or 3 with only 1 shot :)
the 2 ponds is an excellent spot clear view lots of water ive bagged countless ducks here
