Fallow Deer

Hey all, I am trying to finish up the fallow deer mission pack. I really lucked into the first 8 missions. I am on the dreaded chocolate mission (#9).

Are there good spots to find fallow deer in general?

I know they roam, but do they have a predictable movement pattern on the map?

Is there a best time to be at certain spots?

What feeling of accomplishment do you have if another hunter does the work for you? Do you want to be a good hunter or just get rewards?

OldMtnMan, when you first hunted were you told here is a gun, go find a deer to shoot? Or, were you shown a good spot to try, and given tips and pointers on how to harvest your first deer?

That being said I waste too much time on missions. I earn more gms by simply hunting. As we all know gms are necessary evil. We cannot obtain ammo for our chosen implement without it.

I still admire your approach to the game, it is not for everyone, but it is right for you.

I was very young when my dad taught me but he never told me where to hunt. He told me...i'll teach you how to hunt but not where. That's your job and the job of every hunter.

I just want you to become a good hunter. To do that you have to do the whole hunt.

I find lots of Fallow Deer in the North of the map. I have a tent in the woods to the East of Tower 5, right near the river. I usually spawn there and travel to towards the tower then South, through the fields on either side of the road, depending or what looks or sounds lucrative. You'll often get them in the woods to the West of the tower also, either Fallow or Boar. It depends on the spawn, but you could have a large number of Fallow, Boar, Pheasants or Roe, with the odd fox or two, Canada in the fields (or the edge of the woods NE of the tower, a weird spawn/landing spot) or later on a Red Deer might wander up. If I fast travel to Rittersteinhutte I sometimes find Fallow in the grey (on the map) fields to the East or the area to the South of them. The high scoring male for the final mission I encountered in the fields directly South of Mullerwaldhutte, where my Canada Goose setup is IIRC, but it's not the first place I'd go for Fallow. Others may have favourite spots but those are mine.
