How to get a moose to charge?
I've had about 2 dozen encounters with moose now, one so close I could have just touched the thing. They all start making noise and looking, then run towards me for 2-3 steps and veer off in any other direction. Won't charge for anything. What's the secret? My buddy got close in a multiplayer game and a cow charged him on his 3rd try. do they just hate me in particular?

If you hear that snorting sound, "shoot her!" Sorry Jurassic park reference...

But ok how I did it, Crawl until you hear their footsteps, then pull outh your weapon of choice, aim, stand up, watch their reaction and as soon they run towards you, fire! DO NOT take another shot since only the shot that killed them counts!
If you want to be extra sure, use any arrow weapon, and medkits since any arrow weapon will lead to the animal bleeding out eventually. (might include alot of tracking).

Personally I used the 454 revolver for this, the grumpy bastard dropped before he took two steps towards me! XD

Call the moose in, stay hidden. When it will be close enough around 20-30m, stand up. If it's facing sidewards from you, walk in front of him. They are more likely to charge if you're at front. But keep the same distance to have the time to shoot. It will look at you for a few seconds and snarl. From that moment don't move, take aim and wait until it charges.

Also very important is that higher scoring animals spook easier. High scoring bull moose will always run away, females will almost always stomp you into the ground. The best bet for getting charged is to find a low scoring bull moose, I think you need a male for the quest, the smaller the antlers the better.

Any animal that charges me is getting a bullet in the brain. I never force it though.

Do you want this charge for mission?

Try to seek crouch front on a female moose while aiming a weapon at her....She is start staring at you before making an aggressive roaring as charging. In that moment, shoot on head or lungs from front while she is charging.

all tipps are already given so i will just asure you, you are not alone ;)

it took me about 10 moose to finaly get one charging me and shoot aslong they are in that state (some turn and flee after a few steps).
now that is done, they attack me all the time :/ although i try to avoid them XD

well, 3 in a row I was dancing a jig in front of them and they kept walking like I was invisible. Out of frustration I just shot one for the easy gm. Hoping it's just a glitch. i almost touched the one I got so close and was like "wtf is happening right now". I will continue trying though.

Are you wearing camo clothing? It might be that they are not seeing you and I think they need to see you to charge, if they just hear or smell you they flee. I am not exactly sure how the AI works but I would try taking off all camo clothing and just wear regular clothes.

Also you can verify the game files in case it is a bug, I have noticed the files for this game often need fixing for some reason.

The main factor is that it must be a low scoring bull.

Appreciate the help. Finally got a cow to charge after removing my camo, and despite expecting it still jumped like a moron and shot over her shoulder. At least I can repeat it though.

It is like this it is very good action like real hunting one never knows when this will happen.
In real hunting best stay away from a cow moose with a calf

I was charged by cow moose once. I did run like crazy and did run near trees and did change direction right after trees, thinking it would slow it down as it can't change direction so fast and and trees give some protection. Plan pretty much came from instincts as there was really no time to think. I swear I could feel it's breath at back of my neck at one point. Maybe it was not really trying to get me but was just chancing me away.
