Polar Bear
Happy Bear Day! 🐻 Today for my Daily Mission I was supposed to find the tracks to a female polar bear. Unfortunately I was not able to do it, and my streak will be broken. I don't think it would be worth it to pay the fee for restoring your streak. I did watch the Hoo Cairs "Let's Hunt" video about polar bears. I increased my resolution to medium in order to get access to the ice flow, but I could only spot one male bear. I was able to sneak up on it without spooking and shot him from a distance of about 12 meters. The great white bear immediately became disoriented and ran around in circles at a high rate of speed without attacking me. I finally had to hit it with 3 more 12 gauge slug shots before he went down. This mighty beast was over a thousand pounds! But I am still disappointed that I couldn't find the female.

start off on the other lodge and then fast travel at the north lodge by the ice..usually always 2 bears you can see from the lodge...if you start from north lodge you might find one...i always fast travel with good results..

dont search too long, if you dont make it past Kosatka harbour in a resonable time (1 hour?), just respawn like many do, to get a new spawn ;)

i have a tent near the Kaner point peninsula, there and towards Kosatka are usualy enough bears to find. i find them often in the small forrests, but again all random spawns XD

of course you can see them far on the ice, but doesnt mean you can get there too XD they can swim, you freeze to death if you just touch a waterdrop or get stuck between the shelfs ;) be carefull

Yukons suggestion could also increase the chance to find them near the lodge.

dont give up yet, there are nearly 9 hours left XD

good luck

btw: is you rig so old that you cant play this on high? hopefully you have at least the render distance to very high = 320m ^^

Hello - I know there are now 8 hours left for this round of Daily Missions, but I am at work - then going out to dinner - then grocery shopping! Real life is interfering with my polar bear quest! My "rig" is an older Windows 7 laptop running Windows 10, so going up to medium graphics definitely took a hit on the frame rate.

ah, too bad :/ know that feeling XD and your at least 6 hours behind me (NA vs EU) didnt think of that.

hope you still get something done. sorry if you cant continue, but i guess you need the Gm$ for gear first.
wont spend them on the continue streak ticket if youre not better equipped (since you mentioned, shooting the bear with a shotgun).

dont focus too much on those dailys, they are nice but the rewards come after a long time playing. so maybe only choose that map, focus on regular missions and be glad to complete the daily if it happens XD just some extra coin ;)

good luck finding those tracks ;)

sidenote, yes a laptop has some downsides compared to a desktop pc, and if you only have the integrated graphics, those arent so good :/

i build my PC from spare parts, just a few years old. it may be the better solution - definitly better then a new one ^^ those are far to expensive currently.

For Polar Bears the best place in my own experience is the Peninsular in the North East that leads to Kaner Point. The only thing on that peninsular is Polar Bears and Arctic Fox with a rare appearance by a Dall Sheep or Snow Goose. Put a tent at the base (West) end of the peninsular and move towards Kaner Point. You'll either get a call or tracks sooner or later. If all you're getting is foxes then re-spawn and try again. Some spawns are just pure trolls, with whatever it is you have been chosen to hunt filtered out to oblivion. If you haven't got a tent then try and join a multi-game using someone else's tent that is in that area. Remember to thank them for the use of the tent before you go.
