Report a translation problem
The only solution is to shut down the game launcher and re-try. When you re-try it wait a short while before trying to launch a game, especially if any of the images in the main launcher window are broken or take time appearing as there is likely a connection or loss of data problem.
Sometimes it can take 4-6 attempts before you can get a game to start. The worst I've had was about 8 or so attempts before it worked. Make sure you have logged into the browser screen in your internet browser. This seems to help for some reason. Sometimes the launcher comes up with the login screen in the launcher or you will get succesful login screens in your browser. The launcher still doesn't show the map even then, so try again. If you see any lodge/tent/stand icons when selecting an SP map then wait as you will usually be golden once the map images load. I had one on Hemmeldal the other day where the lodge/tent icons had appeared and the blue square was there for a while with no map image. I Alt-tabbed to a browser and checked some stuff out and about a minute later Alt-tabbed back to the launcher and the map images had loaded and we were good to go.
Before trying to start an SP game select "Join a multi-player game". If the games list takes a short while to appear and definitely if the player details (Hunter Scores) don't appear for the games there is some sort of connection problem or loss of data somewhere, and your SP game probably won't start. Sometimes you can join a multi-game but the SP map is still blue squared. I use the Join MP game list as my goto diagnostic. If the player scores don't show then try again as SP will likely be borked.
Hope this helps. If anyone has any other useful info that will help with the launcher issue I'm sure they'll chip in, hopefully with more than a "Verify the integrity of your game files" response.

Occasionally, the game needs to open the browser window, so you might try open it prior lauching the game.
Also, in the upper right corner, the launcher has Settings menu, try Clear launcher/game cache. This really seems like problem where cached data are older than recent so that might fix it.
Other than that you might verify the integrity of game files right clicking on the game in your library, properties and on Local tab click on Verify game's files. There was a patch not long ago and if your game wasn't patched properly (due to connection issues for example) it only makes sense you can't run it.
