I would say don't get the 5x30mm Rangefinder but save for the rangefinder binocs as they are one of the most useful things I have owned in the game.
Would have to agree there...those RF-binocs are best piece of gear ingame.
A standalone rangefinder is NOT gonna be a suitable replacement even for the startign binocs.
The reason is that these are 2 very different tools.
Binocs are designed for observation at a distance. They have wide viewing area and decent magnification.
Range Finders are designed to do, well just that, find range. They have much smaller viewing area (something more akin to the smaller scopes) and less magnification. This can make it very difficult to keep track of an animal, and moreso if your trying to keep tabs on a group of animals.
Really Alf hit the nail on the head. If you can, save up till you can aford the range-finding Binocs.
You get both functions in a single equip slot.
Yeah its a typo. Never fixed it
The reg. binos and spotting scope will also do this, although the reg. binos are not quite as accurate.
Well I'll be a pig in mud... I never knew the standard binocs could mark. I remember back years ago I bought the 5x30 range finder to be able to mark. Did they add this ability at sometime for the regular binocs in the last couple years?
I prefer to use the 16x spotting scope with the 5x30. The 7x rangefinder binocs are a bit larger on the capacity.
I have no idea, I myself just found this out a couple months ago.
I have been using the Reg Binocs since last year to mark my place on the map. But as you said its not that accurate because of the fact you dont know which point on the map you actually mark when you look into the direction
