What's the point of the 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope?

The 2-10x42 Rifle Scope has a lower minimum and greater maximum zoom, can fit all of the same rifles as well as a few extra, weighs the same, and is cheaper. Is there anything special about the 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope that makes it worth buying?

The 3-9 x 40 was introduced before the 2-10 x 42 at a time before the later additions of the bigger calibre rifles were introduced. So consequently the 2-10 x 42 was in reality a later upgrade or addition to the range of available scopes to match the range of new rifle additions..

Reticles are different.

3-9x have a red dot that some people like for lowlight situations.

The other Is a standard "German" style, if I remember true.

It all depends on the sight range you want access to. If 2x isn't enough minimum and 10x is a tad too much maximum you equip the 3x9.

That didn't make sense. If a 2X10X42 didn't have enough minimum. A 3x9X40 would be worse.

How would 3x minimum be worse than 2x minimum? Sometimes 2x isn't enough depending on your setup. You tailor your gear to your preferences and your hunt.

If you prefer the 2x10 then rock with it. There are other cases where gear updates have made other gear absolutely outdated. The Spotting scopes come to mind. Outside of a setup where a small weight difference matters the 32x outperforms the 16x in every way. This set of scopes is nowhere near as bad.

That means if it isn't low enough to me. You should have said..........If 2X is too low.

If 2X was too low on the 2Xx10x42 scope you just turn it to 3X. A 2X10X42 doesn't mean you only have two settings 2X and 10X. You have 2X-3X-4X-5X-6X-7X-8X-9X-10X.

So, if the 2X power on the 2X10X42 is too low. Why would you suggest going to the 3X9X40 scope? Like I said. You made no sense and I don't believe you know much about scopes.

You do realize that the scopes in game do not let you cycle in step increments between its min/max magnification right? A 3x9 and a 2x10 have two stages beyond 0 and that is 3x and 9x, and 2x and 10x, respectively. Neither can use 4x,5x,6x,7x,8x, etc
