Black-tails,Turkey,Roosevelts,Coyotes, and later in the round White-tails.
Hunting is all about patients, so use it, and have fun!
Just go to tower #6 (05:00AM) and have a few callers (turkey, coyote, deer and elk). Take with You a bow and a crossbow pistol (if You have it). Spam those callers every few minutes. You will get quite a few animals to entertain Yourself while waiting for the elks to come. Usually they come in a group of 5 specimens and should be at about 07:00-08:00 (if You started at 05:00). Most of the time they come from furthest point of the field that tower #6 covers. Naturally, there will be fog in early morning, so it's quite easy to spot them coming - look for 'ghosts' with antlers coming towards You. At this point it is best thing to NOT shoot other animals (coyotes, turkeys, deer) if they are close by. Just let them be there, they will walk away - if You shoot and they run, elks will run too.
Now's the tricky part. Memorize the specimen count when they come towards You (usually 5). Try spotting every one of them and memorize their weight (spotting skill level 3 required). Look for the 400-500kg mark. It's quite common that elk with the biggest antlers will be Your target for 453.6kg. That one elk usually will be a bit more careful and he will be the last one coming. Wait for a good distance and shoot him with a bow. Try to make a good body-shot or intestine-shot. All of them will run back to the forest, and that's good. Wait 5 minutes and start tracking him down (CROUCH). In about 10-20 minutes You will find Your dead elk (since arrow-shots don't heal). You can harvest it, but I advise You to leave it there.
Now, elks come in one group, keeping a small distance between each other - shooting them one-by-one without spooking all group is almost impossible (I shot elk with double-lung shot - he died only after ~100 meters of running). That's why You have to pick the biggest specimen of the group - You won't be able to instantly kill him. They come in one group, but after spooking --> group disintegrates. Find a good spot to lie down (prone position) --> tree roots, a rock or something that gives You a bit of height. Avoid grass, since You won't be able to see them coming while in prone. Call the rest of the group. They will come, but only one by one, and from different directions. Lure them closely and wait till a specimen stops - quickly draw the bow and do a heart or lungs shot and prone again. That should instantly kill them on the spot. Keep calling and repeating till You get all the group.
Mission time (when You killed all the group):
Find one specimen with 10 points (5 points on each antler) and leave it there. Memorize it.
Now find the biggest one - confirm kill --> that should do Your mission (Usually it's 470kg-475kg elk). Accept next mission (10 pointer) --> confirm kill and complete the mission.
I tried to do that mission for quite some time on RRF, but no luck. And this trick works every time. So I dropped RFF map for elk hunting. There are a bit more elks, but usually they weight around 420kg-450kg and that's not good enough. So there You go, should be quite easy 1600gm$ to Your pocket. Have fun and remember - everything depends on the hunter classic 'spawning gods'. If You lost one try, have another. Eventually You'll finish it..
:)
I think sometimes Diana gives you something extra. somethimes she is mad at you and even the simplest thing is hard.
same ;) i activate all missions and check befor entering a reserve, but i dont force to get that one target.
its not a game i want to "beat" i play for relaxing, and the missions are a nice side effect to get Gm$ to buy more equippment. just pick another reserve, and some day, without remembering youll get a notice up left in game.

Do the missions. You'll rake in the GM$. also you increase your Hunter score doing them.
I've also gotten big Roosevelts on RFF, but way NE of the lodge.
