Yes you cannot install a treestand on the thickest type of the aspen tree. Go figure.

you may not place a treestand on "that" tree, but there are enough in TGT that can carry it.

i had a treestand with me for a while and used it in TGT, just look around the area you want to place it, there will be some trees that can carry you.

but setting up spooks the animals around anyway, so its to me, only usefull as a permanent installation.

always the best looking trees cannot hold treestand ,,, and you need put it on ugly small trees .. thats on TGT ....

I'm not a treestand guy, but I do like the tripod stand. The good part is I can put it almost anywhere and see 360 degrees.

tripod stand is my go for stand also

I actually switched to treestands After thinking about what I was doing with tripod stands. I was carrying the tripod with me all the time and just setting it up when I spotted bull elk or one called. That's so unrealistic unless you wear a red cape and can fly at the speed of sound. It's heavy and way too big to carry around while hunting.

I used the treestand today and discovered something I didn't know because I only tried one in game once and didn't like that I couldn't see behind me. What I found out is it's impossible to spook animals in a treestand. Unlike the tripod. I had elk coming in from all direction and some of them bedding down right at the base of the tree. No urine scent or scent eliminator is needed. Just call now and then and they just keep coming from everywhere. I'm not sure camo is even needed. All of a sudden cows aren't a problem by spooking and driving the bulls away. They all just come in together or separate and hang around. Then just wander off after a few minutes. If I shots cows which I don't I could have shot 40 elk I less than an hour. Using a bow they would spook at the shot (Python) but be back in 5 min.

I'm not sure if I want to keep using a treestand. I would never do it in real hunting and in game it's worse using one. Animals never smelled the air or looked up. It's just too easy.

I prefer no kind of stand or blind at all but treestands seem like the complete opposite end of the scale of hunting from the ground with no aids.

You are in error.

Could be but I can't seem to do it. What do you have to do?

I felt if I have a bull and cow bedded down right under the treestand they feel pretty safe.

btw..I'm going to just play the game as a game. I'm not using a treestand. It's pretty relaxing hunting.

Its true, you can defenitly spook animals in a tree stand. But it seems to be very inconsistent, like sometimes you spook them and sometimes they stand under you for ages. No idea what triggers it.

I've had that but then saw wolves run by and realized it was the wolves that spooked them. We don't always see the wolves.

Ive had animals spook without predators. Also do predators really spook animals in classic? Ive seen bears walk among deer etc. In CoTW I know predators spook prey.

It's hard to get my score up when I don't do missions and only hunt for bull elk. It seems killing an elk doesn't add much to my score.

Lycon.....I know for sure wolves spook elk. I've watched it too many times. Bears don't seem to.

I cured the not being able to see behind me in a tree stand problem. I bought the 2 man treestand. I can switch back and forth between the two sides and easily see behind me. It is heavier and limits what I can carry but I only carry one weapon at a time, so it's no problem.

I'm going to stay with the treestand and Python bow without the 5 pin range finder sight for now. I'll see how far I can get with it. Some say the Python is weak but it kills bull elk easily and that's all I care about.

missions dont do much for your score/skills. you increase them by spotting, picking up clues (tracks, audio or droppings) and collectabels, alswell as shooting your gun on a legal target (animal, correct ammo).

its about learning by doing, your weapon and animal tracking skill increases that way and not by adding skill points like alot of other games.

if you just pickup any track you see (if your not following a specific one) and every antler shed or mushroom, youll increase your hunterscore overtime.

once you leveled up one specific animal skill you get better (more) info on your huntermate. then youll see that wolf tracks can say "chasing", you can also see them do that if your carefull.

not complete i belive

I'm at almost 17 on spotting and 13 tracking for RME. Which is all I care about. I believe my tracking is slower to gain because I mostly kill on the spot and don't have to track.
