Eagle Mk I
I hardly ever use the 9.3 x 74 as it wobbles terribly, doesn't always kill reliably and has very marked bullet drop.
I also have the 45.70 lever action and consider it to be a much more reliable weapon on big game than the 9.3 x 74. While it has more bullet drop than the 30r it has less than the 9.3 x 74.
I use the 5.5 - 22 x 56 mm scope on every rifle it fits. Outstanding.
Agree - purely for the sake that it can kill all animals in the game from roe deer up. The bullet drop becomes a problem from 250m+ but even then aiming for the spine above the lungs will usually knock an animal over - depending on the size of course. For long range comps / missions / challenges there are other rifles that shoot much straighter.
My experience is a far different one from yours but to each his own. I would still be recommending the 9.3R over the 30R for a new player as a more complete rifle. My opinion, nothing else.
And I have recommended the way on how I cope with that. From 250+ I aim for the spine. The bullet drop does the rest. Bigger animals get hit in the lungs and smaller ones, well, they just get knocked over. But then my hunting style seems vastly different to yours for I rarely shoot 320+ plus unless it's a longshot comp. Good info though for the new potential customers. Thanks for sharing.
