Nowadays the only time I really use the .223 semi-auto is for goat hunting / culling. Otherwise it's the .17hmr most of the time.
EDIT: Forgot, I also use the .223 for combo of arctic fox and dahl sheep on WR at times.

Scroll down and open the weapons link .
Click on any of the pictured weapons to get a full description of the animals and ammo that are permitted for that weapon.
Spend about the next three days reading all about everything you ever needed to know (or not) from all the other information included in the wiki.
Really, I wanted to hear how people felt about each weapon. It'll prolly still be a while before I can afford to buy one. In this game though, it's like buying a real weapon. You gotta research before you purchase.
