Hunting Coyotes
Hello.
This week there were Coyotes on the free rotation, and I want to ask: what is the best location to find/hunt them? and most importantly, how can I locate them and get close without scaring them? I DO NOT HAVE A CALLER.

The open field areas at Logger's Point. If you're stealthy enough you can sneak around and find a pack of them even without any lures/callers. If you hunt like this, you will be taking a lot of long shots, so make sure you're using a weapon you're skilled with. If you have the sneaky 3d summer field camo it helps reduce your visibility immensely against coyotes. Also bring scent eliminator in case they are downwind. Personally, I'd just buy the jackrabbit predator caller, because you can use that for not just coyotes but multiple other varmint species in the game, such as foxes and bobcats.

Thank you for the advice.
because I dont have any em, I cannot buy anything like camo or a caller, but i do have a scent eliminator. The thing is they allways hear me, and if i sneak i allways loose track of them because they are too fast. Once I managed to shoot one of them, but they seem invicible even with a good shot (I had a lung shot) and seem to disspear along with their tracks once you spook them away where you cannot see, unlike other animals that you can find even if they run half the map away from you.

Go to the middle tower in loggers point. Jackrabbit prediatior caller and rabbit decoy makes it a lot easyer. otherwise a ton of luck and move slowly might work.

Are you using the .243 when you hunt them? A .243 lung shot should be more than enough to take down any varmint, I'm surprised it even ran off after you shot it. I usually go for a double lung shot from the side when hunting coyotes with the .243 and it drops them every time on the spot. In the one instance I misfired and hit intestines, the coyote still went down rather quickly, a .243 is on the higher end in terms of permitted ammo for coyotes. As for the coyotes hearing you, there's unfortunately not too much you can do about that, like the other guy said you can always try for the southernmost tower, I usually find a pack in that area.

South of the golden treestand on Whitehart island has always been good to me, both west and east of the lake. Sometimes packs up to nine. Wait until they're in an open field and taken them out with the .243. If you're trying with the shotgun and buckshot but without a caller or lure, good luck to you.

I have shoot coyote with .243 i don´t think all was perfect 0 even with a bad hit. the hits was from 30 - 40 m. but I think coyote is one of those animal you got to have gear for to hunt. I hardley spotted anyone before I got the caller, didn´t shoot any untill i got the decoy.

They just seem to be impossible to track down after getting shot, last time i got a shot in the intestines, he ran off and as i followed him the last tracks i found were showing he climbed a nearly vertical steep, got a few tracks on the top and nothing more. then a warning from the doc i didnt find him. The thing is its hard to get a nice shot on them, they seem to be quite op in terms of senses, and quite reluctant to go near towers. because I do not really care for the score on them, I would have no problem shooting them multiple times and tracking them, but they seem to just dissapear.

I use the rifle you get at the start of the game, with 243. ammo and the basic scope. Sometimes the shotgun you get. I usually shoot from the distance of around 50 meters, or sometimes lower than 10 when they walk into me. Im only a guest, so I dont have nothing else

then you got a bad hit, I have shoot a lot of coyotes with that rifle. but with the scope that comes with the .300 and they drop on the spot i don´t thinkI hade to track any of them at all. the problem is that you got to have them absolutly still. what kind of tracking skill do you got on coyote.
tower areas in middle whitehart and loggers point.coyotes always close.

thats strange, I shoot a coyote 17:40 today with the .243 from 34.58 m got a hit in the left lung and it never know what hit it. the strange thing was that i didn´t use caller as it didn´t call out untill a fraction of a second before I shoot it.

yeah, the whole game seems to freak out for me. yesterday I hit a beautiful deer with a lung shot, it had to be minimally 150 score, it ran away and i lost it when it freaked out on the shore as usual.

Remember return to the last track you are shure is right scan the area, sometimes you miss something. I temember a Rosweldt elk, the second time I returned and to it i found it a few meters from the last known track. in some brush. sometime a animal do a strange turn and you can search a lot in the wrong place. but practice a lot and don´t give up to fast.
