Is hunting with a crossbow better than a rifle because of the reduced sound?
If I shoot a rifle all animals flee but if you shoot a crossbow, do other animals hear it? If not than hunting with a crossbow is the best thing ever? Or is that not how it works?

Bows have much smaller spook distances than rifles, and this includes crossbows. The downsides are shorter effective range, longish reload times, and can't relaod lying down.

However - I'd say that a crossbow is one of the most effective weapons in the game.

Yeah I have been loving the crossbow! The 10 point is so silent!

Not researched this game yet but in CoTW the scare ranges are...guns= 200m bows/crossbows= 50m.

Just bought the reverse draw crossbow and seems to make a sound like a small .22 pistol, so scare ranges may be a bit different in classic?

I found no matter what, that both bow, rifles and pistols all have the same scare effect...

But it might be related to how i shoot. As i am still used to COD and such and with every shot i jump out if the bushes yelling out my warcry from the top of my lungs blasting out obscenities about the Elks mother, critisisms on the preferred sexual choice and lifestyle of the Black bear and the lack of experience of the noob ISIS deer

A 'Banzai' charge has a scare range of 150m.

I use both, and from a tree stand etc it is possible to shoot deer one by one at ranges around 10-20m without spooking. Just try it - fire past them and see if they run or not.

My deer usually spook when I don't get a totally clean instakill on my target. The dying animal can spook the herd.

NB - yes spook ranges are very different from CotW!

Do you know if theres a difference in scare ranges between the crossbows? like 1 crossbow says its quieter than the other so does it affect its scare range? How about bows? is there a chart somewhere that has all weapon scare ranges?

I've heard stuff about the two crossbows - one is quieter, one is more accurate, one is more powerful. I'm really not sure if there is any major difference except that the reverse draw crossbow scope is not as good as the Tenpoint IMHO - it gives no magnification, and the illuminated dots are too big.

I have not been able to notice a significant difference besides the scope. The reverse is suppose to be slightly stronger and slightly quieter. The reverse draw's scope dots are set for a longer range, but with no zoom it is sort of pointless.

The spook range of the ten point is about 20m on a mule doe. The reverse draw is most likely very close to that as well.
