Bear Hunting Help!
Hi everyone, I would need some help in bear hunting without the baits. The bear just keeps noticing me, btw I am using the b/c clothing.

It's hard ---

Either use scent eliminator or head into the wind.

Keep low and slow

Use binocs to scan ahead for signs of a bear.

That's why I use bait barrels sadly - they are hard to hunt IMHO.

Also the Boone and crocket camo is not meant for bear and is intended for deer.

Hi Raptor, mind sharing your experience on the preferred camo?

See the chart part way down, but in effect you will only get camo value vs bears if you wear the 3D Sneaky camo for that specific reserve/part of the reserve, or likewise the two versions of the ghillie suits.

Each bear is different, which bear are you hunting? Black and brown spook way easier than the other two. It is very difficult to stalk black bear. Getting within 50m can be difficult as you have to crawl within that range, and the bear moves faster than you crawl.

Clothing that has some protection versus all species is the clothing to use.

NB - some players debate the effectiveness of camo at all... or that it is marginal to say the best. I'm not commenting one way or the other.

Why not look for a MP game with barrels in and increase the fun?

If in bear country, I always carry a big gun, like a 300 or a Muzzleloader, with a good scope.
As soon as you see a bear, get in a good shot.
No second chances.
If injured, you can track the bear to it's demise.
Preferably you can down it the first shot.
If you miss, move on.
Following freshly found tracks is a waste of time, if the bear is not found in the first kilometer.
They are slightly faster than your walk, and mostly on the move.
always try and approach bears head on.they seem to spook easier from behind also you want to get a ideal shot and front on will always be better than from behind.generally with Boone and crockett you will be fine crouch walking upto bears even trophy bears upto 40m.30-35m is often the range they will spook if they dont attack.

i dont use any attracters or scents.

the sneaky 3d cammo seems to be more a pain than annything els becouse you need 2 sometimes 3 difrent sets to hunt one reserve ,the bc cammo works only for deer ,and also the sneaky 3d just doesnt seem to do the job since it mostly only works when standing still so your best bet to hunt bears would be to take em on longer ranges,or to use bait otherwise its a nightmare ,just keep in mind that the bait sites doesnt keep bears there for too long so start your hunt early and sit and wait for your bear to come

I haven't played the game that much, as yet, but have found bear one of the easier species to hunt without bait. Like another guy said, I always carry a 300 around and glass a lot (just used to it IRL). Rain's your friend i.e. I have bumped into a few (or vice versa) which required some quick finger on trigger stuff. Sometimes I do long range shots but just make sure of shot placement like you would for any other animal. I am yet to spook one but then I slow stroll most of the time and always keep an eye on the wind. Good luck!

Thank you for all the advices. The black bear that I was hunting was sure a pain. I dislike the idea of using a bait for hunting rather creeping up on the animal instead.
if you are in the right areas you can get many bear as you describe.its mainly location and hitting vital shots.

I agree. This game is called "theHunter".
Baiting is for farmers.
Bring a tractor when dismantling, hahaha.
Even stands & blinds are bad form, high yield or not.
Hunters stalk their prey.
Just my opinion.

The camo I use for bear is a cowboy hat, england shirt, glasses and casual jeans...seems to work fine if you crouch.

The bear feeders are great if you can find an active one. If its in a good location you can shoot with a bow and not spook them. If one runs away resist the temptation to track it...it would appear that most wounded bears actually stop and return to the feeder. It must be something to do with the changes on the feeders. This also works with hog feeders but have not tried shooting on a goat feeder yet.

The rest of your post is a good tip, but "camo" actually means camouflage.
The hat is, but your other clothes are just clothing, the "camo" is in your imagination.
You may as well be naked.
