video i did showing the natural bows

As close as possible. You will probably get a 10-20 minute wound time on an elk bull no matter how close. Unless you hit the heart of course.
Well any longbow hit on an animal in this game will kill it. It is just a matter of how much wound time before it dies, and how much tracking is involved. I know for sure that a 10m well hit body shot (no organs) takes an elk bull 20min to bleed out from the longbow. I enjoy hunting large game with the longbow. In MP hunts people think I am crazy as I take polar bears with the longbow. (multiple shots required normally)
On big game I am trying to think of a recommendation on the longbow. I have been unreliable in hitting heart shots with the longbow on elk, and brain shot is out of the question. Single lung is definitely possible, but probably not a double.
I guess, now that I think of it, my preferred hunting method with the longbow is from a treestand and doing neck/spine shots from above. That would be my recommendation.
To you original question, I will let loose on big game up to 40m with the longbow. I have renamed this method/weapon to 'scent hound training tool'.
Only instant kill reliable shot that I can do with the long bow is a 10-20m neck/spine shot from a tree stand. Some one who is skilled with the longbow can no doubt do better than myself.
Thank you, I don't mind chasing down the kills. I am looking at the longbow as a difficulty modifier.
