Pro Controller detected as Xbox 360 controller
For some reason, the game thinks my Switch Pro Controller is an Xbox 360 controller (shown by New Controller: Xbox 360, and it says Xbox 360 when I try to manager controllers)
This is a huge issue, as I can't remap the ABXY buttons in-game so they match the icons in the game.
The only way to remap the buttons to Xbox format is through Steam Big Picture (which does recognize as a pro controller), but then the in-game icons don't match what I actually need to press.
Please help!

Make sure you don't have any 360 controller emulators. Additionally, make sure config for pro controllers is disabled. If enabled, it will automatically convert DirectInput into XInput.

I was having the same problem but figured it out. Under Controller Settings, select your controller > define layout > save. When saving the layout (you don't have to change anything) you can select the type of controller it actually is. Once you have the correct controller type selected, you can click either yes to upload the layout or no thanks, both will save the change.

You can replace the "Xbox360.ini" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HatinTime\HatinTimeGame\Config\Gamepads" with "NintendoSwitch.ini" which will give you the switch button, just remember that A would be confirm instead of B, but that can be changed by messing around with the config file

Solution: From Steam page > Upper Left "Steam" > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Uncheck "Switch Pro Configuration Support" > restart game

Sorry to revive a 3 year old thread, but i found a solution (works for me at least as of 2021) and wanted to leave it here in case someone else has the same problem.

Assuming your pro controller is detected by both windows and Steam, but as an Xbox 360 controller, in Steam Big picture go to Settings > Controller Settings. Once there select your controller under the "Detected Controllers" and select DEFINE LAYOUT.

Once here, do NOT change anything, and just click save. This will then ask the user if you want to share the layout. More importantly, IT ASKS YOU TO SELECT THE TYPE OF CONTROLLER. Here just select "Nintendo Switch Pro Controller". You don't need to actually share so just go ahead and press "No Thanks". (Sharing or not sharing does not matter, both work)

The Controller will now disappear for a second before coming back being recognized as a Nintendo Switch Pro controler, no longer an XBox 360 one.

Since the controller is now a Pro Controller now don't forget to turn on Switch Pro Configuration Support and Use Nintendo Button Layout.

Finally, a fix that worked. Thank you so much. Although now I need to relearn all my muscle memory.

I don't see a Identify layout selection anywhere after I select my controller

Can someone tell me how to fix this issue with Windows? windows also detects it as an xbox 360 for everything

If you go into Bluetooth settings and remove the xbox 360 gamepad at the bottom I've had success, however with the new update it kind of broke it again for me.

This no longer appears to be a thing in Big Picture and I'm now having this issue., or at least I can't find it now. This new Big Picture layout is a confusing mess to me.
