Periodic Stutter Dead Bird Studio Act 1 Part 2
I've beat this game 3 separate times in the past without a single problem, including with mods. Put the game down for a while to play other things for a couple years and all that. Now I come back because I felt like playing it again. I was playing it just fine up until I get to Dead Bird Studio Act 1 Part 2, the part where the plus is seemingly deserted and you have to take the elevator down.

Generally, up until after the elevator is fine. It's not until after the second half of the level loads and going down the elevator further for the major platforming section again. However, I can't continue at this point due to a weird periodic stutter that happens every 10-ish seconds and it lasts for about half a second. It's like it's on a timer too, so it makes some of the more trickier parts of the platforming more difficult to impossible due to this stutter eating my inputs. Since I know people will ask, here are my specs which are more than capable of playing this game on all high settings.

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700k RAM: G.Skill Ripjaw 4 - 32GB 3000MHz GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX1070 Strix OC

I've tried all manners of things, from lowering all my graphics to low, same stutter. Verified files, same thing. Removed every single mod, no dice. Plugged a wire into my controller so it's not on bluetooth, nope. (btw, it's an XBox Series controller) Turned off the FPS cap in the game... nothing. The stutter remains like on a timer in that specific section of the game. I have tried the DXVK thing I saw floating around, but that didn't help at all as the stutter is exactly the same. Game is installed on an SSD as well. Don't know if moving it to an HDD will help really. Mainly kept it on the SSD for faster load times, but even then the game doesn't load really all that fast actually; at least for me anyway. Online party is off as well.

At this point I'm kinda at a loss. This periodic stutter that's occurring makes the game unplayable for me since I'm not able to complete the act unless I felt like falling to my death several times over and having to repeat the same section multiple times. Since the stutter eats my input at the worst times, it makes it easy to fail a jump and then go splat. This stutter doesn't happen anywhere else in the game that I'm aware of. I went through Chapter 1 with no problems, 95% of Chapter 2, and a bit of Chapter 3 because I needed the hookshot to progress more in Ch2.

Getting regular stutter too on always the same levels, for me the most reproducible is Train Rush mission. Try turning Steam in offline mode to see if it changes a thing.

Hm, I'll try that probably tomorrow or the day after. Right now I'm stuck on Dead Bird Studio, although nothing stops me from doing more of Subcon Forest in the meantime to see. First level there had no problems, so I don't know what's up with the Studio now. Never caused me a problem before and I've played this game on this very system prior.

Ok, really late on my part, but finally did a bit of testing around. It seems it's not a mod problem, but maybe a communication problem between the game and Steam? I don't know, but I did try playing the game in offline mode and there was absolutely no stutter, even with mods. So, I tried playing in online again, that stutter returns. It's the strangest thing, but playing in offline mode, for me, got rid of the stutter for the time being, so I can at least play the game effectively now.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I was pumped to try this fix but after this update the game will not launch for me. This is on Steam Deck and I have validated the files.

Any suggestions??

Ooh nice, now I don't think I need to play in offline mode to get through the rest of the game.
