Hat Kid eats stickers.
Now that's some real detective work! I'm almost tempted to say that there may be different standards in different parts of the world; but the Nyakuza cats follow Cooking Cat, so their culinary tastes can't be THAT different.
In any case, this proves that if Hat Kid eats plates, she doesn't do it out of ignorance to the planet's standards. She understands there are some circumstances where people don't eat plates.
We gotta remember that cats eat there, too, and they talk about having burgers. Does this imply the cats eat stickers, too? Or that every fast food place in the Metro has a dedicated Kids' Menu with a few stickers? And would the drinks still be liquid, or just stickers that make slurp noises upon consumption?
Here's the question we should all be asking. Granted, there's more than one way to dispose of poop, as J.K. Rowling's Twitter would tell us. But you'd need a pretty tough system to dispose of ceramics without damage. Don't think poor, innocent rumbi could handle that.
Yes. As *one* of the devs confrmed that everything is real, the theory about everything being a giant dream *might* officially not be kanon anymore (if it ever was). Still, this *confirmation* sounded more like a helpless excuse to overshadow the fact that the game tells a different story. Nor does this *one* dev offers a better explanation.
Remember, implementing the R. King was a solo project by one dev also not telling the others about it afaik. That is most likely the reason why one of the notes is broken if you have the Seal the Deal DLC. So I don't give much on a half hearted confirmation of one single (rogue?) dev.
Unless they patch away the evidences the theory about everything being a giant dream is still the most suitable explanation of what you see and what is happening. I totally understand why some people still go for this, or are mislead because they don't know the *confirmation* the *one* dev said.
I'm sorry, but if that's really canon...it's the laziest crap considering how good thw writing is IN GAME.
shes just an alien kid. she does things weird. might not even be a kid ( ppl assume shes 5 for some reaosn ) bit the intro sas you are 5 ... light years away from your home planet. I guess ppl tune out before then.
she doesnt really talk, maybe emotes? but no language.
she can do all sorts of weird stuff a kid can;t do, and is really mature for being a kid and all that.
doesn;'t understand what money is ( evidenced by nyakuza metro ) so im not buying this is a dream .
for a it to be a dream, this kid has an imagination that makes her 10 times smarter to even grasp all the concepts of what's going on.
if it's a dream, how does the virus on apline skyline happen lol? you're not in the world, and it'snot liek hat kid sees the camera panning to show the flowers shooting pollen into the goats.
She does talk in English, and decently, she just doesn't talk much as it's her way to silently blend into the world she has been stranded to. Plus, she expresses herself more when writing her diary entries.
I mean, she's an alien, maybe her species grows up physically at a much lower rate than real humans (or even not grow up at all, maybe she got some eternal youth spell). But yeah, the list is long: designing a spaceship, piloting a spaceship, using firearms (laser badge), throwing explosives (brewing hat ability), riding a scooter, stealth skills (studio and manor), steering a cruise ship to crash it exactly where she wants, discreetness (by not speaking much or using stealth), etc.
She does know what money is and how it's used. Remember she uses pons as currency to buy upgrades and food. The explosive cat-money is just a funny reference to the Yakuza series.
It's already confirmed that it's not a dream. One dev can speak for the whole team.
Exactly. At this point it's more like a nightmare, and let's not forget Vanessa too.
if the devs intended that, then they suck at writing, and as I said before; the writing is too good to be capped off with rubbish " nothing mattered : logic.
In any case, if it is a dream, the question remains: why would Hat Kid dream about eating some plates, but not dream about eating other plates? People can examine (and have examined) the internal logic, plot, and character motives in Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA); The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening; Kirby's Dream Land; NiGHTS Into Dreams; Yume Nikki; LSD The Dream Emulator; and Neil Gaiman's The Sandman; thus I believe A Hat In Time deserves the same scrutiny. I keep a dream diary, myself, and have not recorded any dreams about eating plates. Are we to assume the person dreaming A Hat In Time eats plates in their waking hours? If not, then what experiences or pre-sleep snacks made them dream it up?
Now this is a way more comprehensive answer than I expected, good thinking! It might be similar to how some leaves are treated like garnish, while others can be eaten; or how some decorations on a birthday cake are edible, while others are waxy and burn your tongue. Or maybe they just look the same, but the difference between Hat Kid's plates and the Nyakuza plates are like the difference between ceramic plates and thin, circular bread.
Also, I guess the plates left behind on the ship could be gifts for friends or family on her return - and she's just keeping them clean so they make safer meals.
