A Hat in Time
Any way to have instant respawn in coop?
Making a player wait until the other collects enough pons to revive them is a terrible design decision for coop in a family oriented game like this.

It's a worse design decision to let them respawn at the other player's location. If a co-op character dies, it should be unavailable until the other one dies, and until then the screen should just show the remaining player. Or else have the characters respawn based on a timer instead of an auto-respawn mechanic.

Why? This is a cute / fun game that's likely to be played co-op with young children.

They should have (at least as an option) done what they do in the lego games, where respawn is instant. Or the Rayman games, where the second player turns into a ghostly bubble until they can be revived.

There are lots of proven ways to do co-op respawns in child-friendly games. The method they chose though is like something I'd expect to see in a more mature game.

I think there should be a limited about of times you can instantly respawn. Like 3 per level.

There are actually many reasons why this game is for adults and not children...

But the answer to your question is that it's basically cheating. Infinitely respawning at the exact place you died means you can never, ever fail a level - ever. This isn't a game designed around zero penalties; there's at least some level of difficulty provided by the death mechanic.

That's basically what co-op already has.

Hence I suggested this could be an *option*.

Different people play the game differently and with different ideas of what having fun means.

There's a mod called "Buyback Charity" that makes the pon counter also go up on it's own, as well as going up from pons.

Buyback Charity is the best way of doing the respawn system tbh. The game isn't fun when you just instantly pop back in but in levels w/o pons it can also take out all the fun. The only gripe that I have is that it works in boss fights: it makes them have no challenge whatsoever in a game that already has really easy boss fights.
