A Hat in Time
liraz747 Mar 15, 2018 @ 12:17pm
Mods won't appear.
I Tried to do everything but it doesn't matter which mod I install it won't work.
Does someone know how to fix this issue?

By the way: I am using the newest version so don't tell me to enable the mod version beta: IT'S NOT A BETA ANYMORE.

Running into the same issue. Subscribed in workshop and launched the game, the mods are empty

Have you tried running the game as Administrator?

Same issue. Was able to run mods during the beta but can't since the new update.

... I really really like the mods and I Hope The devolopers would fix this soon.

and by the way... If you'll create your own mods with the mod editor they WOULD appear.

Maybe The devolopers would wake up when I'll tell them THAT WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A HELPFUL REPLY FROM THEM!

Some mods from my experience take a bit to download and install as well. A mod here or there took a few minutes to get installed and show up even though Steam said I wasn't having any downloads occuring at that time, from my experience.
first of all im not a mac user. secondly, I didn't use the beta version since I purchased the game when there was the sale with the new modding update. but thanks anyway.

Gotcha, just covering some bases.

I'm also assuming you meet all the requirements for mods to work ingame by having 8 timepieces already and the ice-hat created in the save file you're trying to access the mods in.

Are said mods you're trying to access levels or are they hats/badges/weapon/etc.?
I have 10 Time pieces, I have the ice hat and I am trying to access levels and hats too.
BTW: I know about the slide, I tried to go there but no mods there too.

Gotcha, just checking off some common things that some people skip over is all.

There's a small chance a certain mod could be breaking this, as I've seen some comments on older mods no longer working correctly now that modding is out of beta and is causing crashes and other annoyances for some users.

Skipping that possibility however;
When I subscribe to a mod, the downloads section for my Library tab in steam doesn't show A Hat in Time updating, but however does show network activity due to Steam downloading the mod for the game.

- In "Steam" in the top left of the Steam UI, in "Settings" go to the Downloads tab.
- If, "Auto-update games between:" is checked, uncheck it for now.
- "Clear Download Cache" is another thing you could do here at the possibility of that clearing any potential download problems.
(Be warned that this will uninstall all your current mods, or rather it should do so in the process. If any other games you have currently also have mods installed from the workshop this could remove them. It shouldn't uninstall any games you have installed currently. I haven't personally used this ever as I have never personally had a problem with downloads, so take what I've said it'll do with a grain of salt and use that only if you want to.)
- Hit OK, and next in your Library tab go to "Downloads" and take note of the numbers to the left of "TOTAL" if it isn't zero. Make sure that "CURRENT" is at a "0 byte/s" as well, if not pause any updates/installs you're currently doing or wait until they finish.
- Go to the Workshop page for this game either manually or through the quick button under the game in your Library and go to either the Mustache Girl mod or the Rope Land time rift mod; I only recommend these specifically for now due to my game running these perfectly fine so I know the mods themselves are good to go. If you have whichever you chose currently subscribed, unsubscribe for now.
- Hit the Subscribe button and quickly jump over to the "Downloads" page under your Library tab. It may take a second or two, but your "CURRENT" numbers should no longer be zero, and the "TOTAL" numbers should be higher than whatever it was when you last checked.

(If it does show A Hat in Time updating when you do this, that's more ideal than it not showing up like how it does for me when I subscribe to a mod.)

- Finally, just for the sake of doing so, go to Hat in TIme, don't boot it up, right-click it and go to Properties > Local Files > "Verify Integrity of game files..."

If you subscribed and neither of these nubmers are changing in the Downloads page, Steam simply isn't downloading these mods even though you are subscribed to them and would explain why they aren't showing up. Ideally with your Downloads settings changed for Steam from earlier they should've done so and it's most likely a Steam problem at this point and not the game.
Clearing the download cache should've made you sign back in if I remember correctly, but if you opted to not doing that part logout of Steam then back in. That clears most Steam problems I've ever had.

If the numbers DID change, and the "TOTAL" number difference represents the full mod file size as well as the "CURRENT" numbers are now zero, boot up the game to see if the mods are there. If they still aren't showing up, then yes, there is a problem on the game's end as it would seem and that sucks sadly; there is a chance there is some weird Steam setting I am not thinking of to check for. I am sure the "Steam Beta Update" beta under Steam > Settings > Account > Beta Participation shouldn't be a problem if you are joined in that, but if all this fails you could try just to see if opting out if that changes anything.

.... I appreciate that you tried to help me but well.... you see... now thanks to you it won't even download mods....

Or the numbers in the downloads page didn't show any changes?

The mods already weren't downloading for you before I posted anything, I don't see how this became my fault suddenly.
Now, when I try to install mods the numbers won't change and it won't even show that the mods are downloading. Before, it all worked perfectly except that issue that the mods won't appear.

Were you sure they were actually downloading before or just assuming they were?

I've never seen mods being shown to be downloading when I got them. Network activity showed signs they were but nothing in the Downloads page did at all, even though they indeed were.
No, I don't see them download in the activity too.

So I thought I could touch the game again now that we have mod support in offical patch. But I am with the same problem. Mods don't show. Only the "beta test hero" whatever it is called showed but nothing else. (not that I tried everything yet but still)

I unsubscribed from a mod and now Steam insists on downloading 1.9GB worth of files for the game. Nice.
